Damuu system

Jump to navigationJump to search

The planet Paliura is one of 4 orbiting a gas giant within the depths of the Unknown Regions. The systems' inhabitants aptly named it the "Damuu system" after the masssacre of Paliura in the 183rd revolution of Turpis (their calendar is based on the revolutions of the 3rd planet around the sun, which takes 283 years per revolution. No one knows when they started the calendar, but that massacre would be equivalent to the time of the destruction of Alderaan). Damuu means death, and there were lots of that in this massacre. You see, the planet Paliura has a very unique flower, called the paliurus. After all, the planet was named after this flower. Anyway, this flower has 2 special properties. The first is the fact that it is Force-sensitive; it creates a bubble 1 meter wide of neutrality in the Force, and this compounds based on how many flowers are near it. To a Jedi/Sith, the whole planet seems to have no Force whatsoever. Don't be mistaken; these flowers are NOT like the ysalamiri. They do not negate the Force; they only make the area around it seem to lack any positive or negative Force energy. The Emperor himself would only be seen as another Force-sensitive civilian if a Jedi/Sith was feeling out the planet in the Force, although they'd find him after he goes killing people with lightning....anyway, back to the story. Because of this, the planet and it's flowers were not discovered by the Emperor or any other Force-bearing entity. The flower has one other special property though; when the Force does enter it's little bubble, it'll feed on that Force power and change it's growth according to that Force energy. This enabled one to see if another was emitting negative, or evil, energy or positive energy. A flower in the positive form looked beautiful, growing with unusually strong stems and an increase in it's bodily functions. The negative side turned the flower into a red stem, with pale flwers with thorns along the sides. The courts of Paliura used these flowers frequently for that use. As Paliura grew and learned how to travel in space, it met the neighboring planets, Turpis and Kalia (the fourth planet was usually visible 2 hours out of a day, due to it's reflective minerals and the fact it has a vertical orbit around the sun, not horizontal or lopsided. Due to this, it wasn't discovered for many years and even harder to land on it. It's name is Heilige). Turpis had only microscopic lifeforms; there were too few oceans/seas to promote much life. Kalia, on the other hand, had much life. Human life, just like Paliura. Their only differences were their governments and the flower. Both had republics, but with different laws and judgement systems. Paliura used the flower in a trial to determine the innocence/guiltiness in a suspect and judged them according to the seriousness of the violation/ Kalia, on the other hand, has two governments. Since the planet had 3 continents and thousands of islands, historians have determined that there once was a 3rd nation, but was wiped out during their War of St. Kwaun.

During the last thousand years, when Kalia had 3 small nations (Mossi, Wbili'i, and Eurate'a) riding in primitive automobiles, a meteor (or so we thought) fell from the sky. Truthfully, it wasn't a meteor. It was a Chiss prototype of an escape pod that included thrusters to maneuver better. He had to eject after being ambushed by pirates. Well, the pod came and smashed into the city of Eurate'a and killed several people while destroying storage/delivery buildings. As the battle-scarred Chiss climed out of the cockpit, people stared with hatred, preparing to go torture and kill this unknown alien. When the people charged at him, he pulled out a primitive blaster and shot at one. He missed, but it sure did stop them. People began to wonder: Could this be a sign from the gods? Could our primitive beliefs be true? Since the alien was blue and could speak in their tongue as well as an unknown one, they thought he was a god. Unfortunately, this Chiss loved the attention and confirmed their belief. He became known to the people as St. Kwaun, although he was nothing like a saint. He taught them new ways to do things, new weapons to make, and became their leader. As the other two nations heard of this, they became jealous. They wanted a god, a religion, so they set off for war.

In the meantime on Paliurus, the people were about the same technoligically as Kalia, but they had a MUCH different history. As their population grew, they united into a common government until the Revolution of Ahargas't. You see, a band of cities, called the Circle of Ahargas't, decided to take the paliurus and eat it to see what happens. It created hallucinations (they called it the "sight-seeing plant") when neutral, it healed diseases when eaten in it's purified form, and you'd die if you ate it when it was in its dark form (you coukdn't eat it in it's dark form due to the thorns and thickness of the leaves and stem). They took the hallucinations too far. They started religions based on many gods. The plant-eaters broke off into several groups and established "churches" around the globe. They weren't really churches. They used these "churches" to offer sacrifices and do religious ceremonies which included slaughtering one of a different faith. As the ranks of the religions grew, they broke into war, called the War of Alzodat, or sacrifice. There was a few select beings who believed something different. They believed that there was a God above whom didn't want sacrifices, but wanted love to him and to others. Their church was probably the most hidden, most secure, but had no bloodshed within it. Anyway, as this war raged on, these people of that one God religion began to be exterminated. Slowly, one by one, they were killed, until the climax of the war came three years later. One of the religious leaders had been captured, and was going to be killed publically unless one of a different religion would be willing to be torured and killed in his place (They were trying to show the futility of religions working together). Well, one of the people of that loving religion decided that wouldn't do. He went up to the captors, and offered to be killed in the captives' place. The captors were astounded, but decided to do it. As the whole world gathered upon the capital and witnessed this persons' death, they asked "Who is this man? What were his last words?" The killers replied, "This is the man known as Zerelem, the leader of the cult called the Bediende van ik BEN (Servant's of I AM), whom willingfully died for these people. His last words were, 'Now, my students, now that I have shown you an example of what to do for your neighbors, go out unto the world and do it.'" The people of Paliura were amazed at this man. They left the churches and the bloodshed, united together, and became a nation. The only religion that stood was that of the Bediende van ik BEN. During this war in Paliurus, the war on Kalia was growing. Already half of the Wbili'i's territory has been lost; the Chiss nation is advancing upon them. After six years of bloody fighting, the Wbili'i had regained some land, but have not advanced. Rumors suggest they are developing a new type of weapon. The Mossi, on the other hand, have been pressing their attack against the Eurate'a homeland. After detonating tons of explosives underneath a coral reef, causing a massive tidal wave that broke the Eurate'a's defences, the Mossi charged while the Wbili'i closed in on the other side. The Eurate'a, in fear for they're lives, abandoned their religion, slaughtered the Chiss, and offered his body to the other nations. The Mossi took the offering and left, while the Wbili'i didn't. They wanted the land. As the war between the two nations raged on, all religions except democracy and power abandoned, the Mossi studied science. They were the developers of the first space shuttle and the first passenger ship. Finally, 4 and a half years later, the Wbili'i defeated the Eurate'a and took over the land (although part of it was a marsh after the massive tidal wave). Peace was finally upon all the nations.

Now, 1000 years afterwards, the destruction of Alderaan shook the galaxy, except for this system. No, it was shaken by something else, something so big, it caused the Empire and Chiss to come investigate with their fleets. The name of that catastrophe was the "Massacre of Paliura". A plain name, but it serves its purpose. Like I was saying, Paliura had one world governent with good judicial laws, while Kalia had 2 governments. One government, the descendants of the Mossi, were a republic for the people that had a jury system in which the goal was to settle conflicts and keep peace. The other government, the descendants of the Wbili'i, had a General Good type of philosophy. Everyone was payed the same. You put in a bid for the work or education you wanted, and if there were enough people, you got it. Partially Communistic, but they elected a leader every 5 years and were well-fed. As for religion, the Bediende van ik BEN was the only one, unless one would call science and the search for wealth and knowledge one, although the Bediende van ik BEN is still quite small, as not many people are very willing to sacrifice their lives for others (luckily, that hasn't happened in a while). As the planets grew and traded, the Mossi, whom were the most technoligically advanced nation in that system, realized the power that the paliurus had. They took a few specimens to their labs to study it; they didn't find whatever it was that enabled it to have those properties, but they did find something. One of the technitians accidently cut himself on the thorns on the flowers' dark version; he felt like his soul was being sucked out for every second the thorn was in him. More research revealed that the flower, when in it's evil form, slowly absorbed the Force from the body when injected into it (the body would eventually die very painfully), while the positive flower form released Force energy and healed many injuries and diseases. They began to develop a weapon to be used against Paliura, especially after the Inter-Planetary Colonization Debate, in which said planet completely prohibited the export and import of exotic plants into and out of Paliura for fear of disease. As the two planets headed toward the outside areas of the solar system to colonize, the Mossi attempted an assassination on the Wbili'i leader. They were shocked. Why would the Paliura do such a thing (even though it was really the Mossi, they trusted them too much), or so they thought.

As the Mossi armed their troops with these thorns (after smuggling out thousands of the flower), the Wbili'i declared war on Paliura for attempting to asassinate their leader (which the Mossi tried to do). The next few months resulted in catastrophic damage to the Wbili'i forces, so much that they held a conference, in which they decided if they can't take Paliura, no one can. They, too, started to develop a weapon. A weapon that could destroy a planet. No, it's not the Death Star or any laser weapon. It's quite simple; if all the flowers spontaneously react and explode, the planet would be completely annihilated. Unknowingly, the Mossi would help in this. As the Paliura began to start conquering Kalia, the Mossi too declared war after their big opening, and sadly finishing, move. They send 6 cargo transports over the 6 major cities, filled with these thorns, and they blew up. Little did they know there were actually ground-up thorns with ground-up forms of the positive flower form mixed in. When the thorn powder landed over a being, it would not be absorbed. Instead, if it were to come into contact with a neutral flower, it would explode, for having the positive and negative flower's Force abilities become neutral set then off. In less then 10 minutes, over 8 billion people died as well as 60% of the planet's surface. The other 40% was oceans, although that too ceased to be after the Imperials were done with it. That day was truly the Massacre of Paliura. The few Paliurians that were alive were about to be caught in another war; the Mossi against the Wbili'i, who still wanted the death of every flower and Paliurian. One Paliurian family (followers of the Bediende van ik BEN. Sadly, one of the last of them) left the massacre but stayed in the system; they were on the planet Heilige, where they have been hiding out (very well too) and building a lone church, the last surviving Bediende van ik BEN (and the most glorious, yet sacred too) and the best hidden one. This would be their meeting place for thousands of years to come, for only those who can see it may lead the blind to it (figuratively speaking). They were a middle-class family with 2 children, a son and a daughter. They were the Mumishi family, joining the church of the Bediende van ik BEN ("The few, the humble, the Bediende van ik BEN" is their cheesy, uncopywrighted motto. The holo stations rejected it.....) when they were ready to make that commitment, and make it they did.

When Paliura went out, Emperor Palpatine, sitting in his throne, felt a great vacuum in the Unknown Regions, as well as Darth Vader, whom was currently occupied with Obi-Wan in a lightsaber fight. When a vacuum so big as that occurs, it's virtually impossible for it not to attract attention. Especially Force attention. Three hours after the incident, the entire Chiss armada (with the exception of the Home Defence Fleet), as well as 4 Imperial-class Star Destroyer's accompanying the Executor, jumped into hyperspace, heading for those coordinates. After all, the Empire wanted to know who or what else could amass as much power as their Death Star. 11 standard hours later, the Executor and it's armada came out of hyperspace....just as the Chiss were sending their landing parties to Paliura and Kalia. Needless to say, the Empire ddin't take kindly to anyone-or thing- butting in on their business. The Executor commenced firing immediately, obliterating several landing craft. As the firefight broke out, the Wbili'i continued in their "Destroy Paliura" campaign. As they laced the surface with explosives, their party was interrupted by a squad of stormtroopers; no one survived. Up in space, the Chiss knew they were losing, so they, too, launched an all-or-nothing campaign. As their main fleet started the jump to lightspeed, the other remaining ships evacuated into landing craft and, after slaving their main craft to hyperspace into the Star Destroyer "Night Hawk", went to land in the Night Hawk's landing bay. After a short fight, the Chiss remnants took control of the Star Destroyer. Unknowningly, the captain had slaved the controls to hyperspace into Paliura (he thought that was their homeworld). Ten minutes later, the planet Paliura existed no more; nor did the Night Hawk. The Empire retreated when Paliura was destroyed (Kalia was on the sun's other side). That was the Paliura Massacre, with well over 10 billion people dead.
