History

Davin Ingram Kabak's history is a long tale.

Family Roots

Davin Ingram Kabak's family roots trace back to Corellian origins, long-distant relatives of the venerated Halcyon family line. Drifters and spacers, they have moved from planet to planet throughout the Galaxy, spanning decades. For reasons known only to the middle son of the family, Chet, the names of their parents have remained a secret known only to him. He has mentioned on several occasions that he will take those names to the grave with him, and he will never divulge them.

Little else is known about the family history before Davin's immediate parents, due to the tragic nature by which the elder family members met it's fate. Davin's immediate family had been living on a planet in the outer reaches of the Hapes cluster. It is believed they had been there for several generations, and Hapan blood is known to have entered the family line on several occasions. Due to oppressive restraints, the family set off with a small group of colonists, bound for the outer rim. As many other ships had done throughout history, they found navigating the Endor star system trecherous, and their colony ship crash-landed on the Sanctuary Moon surrounding the gas giant. Rescue ships reached them months later, but by this time they had begun to set down roots. Having formed good relations with the native populations, and learned to exist off of the abundant life of the moon, the colonists opted to stay and make the moon their permanant home. They made arrangements with a local sector shipping company for semi-annual visits to re-stock on goods they could not make themselves. Tragedy would then stalk the family from those days on, as Endor is a trecherous place, even on the best of days. The Kabaks eventually had 5 sons, and a daughter. The eldest, Corran, was taken at the age of 3 by wild beasts of unknown type, while just outside the family home. It would be nearly 7 years before he would be rediscovered. It was not until their second son, Davin, was born, that they realized the special gift that their children posessed. The semi-annual trasport came and went, and soon news of the boy reached the Jedi Order, who dispatched a Knight to the remote world. It was discovered that the boy had a strong connection to the Force, and the Jedi took the boy to be trained.

Davin was taken to the Jedi Temple, there trained in the traditional Jedi way.


In the meantime...

Proud, but sad, having lost two sons already, were undeterred. A family's survival required children, and they soon had two more sons. The second of the two, Chet, displayed the same special abilities his older brother Davin had, but circumstances in the sector had become tense, with pirate activity becoming rampant. Supply ship after supply ship fell easy prey to the marauding bands of pirates that had began moving into the sector. Not wanting to give up another son, and the lack of visits from supply ships, the Jedi Order was unaware that a second Kabak son had an affinity with The Force. The colony began to degress into more and more primitive means of survival, as their equipment broke down or ran out of power. With help from the local indigeonous tribes, they continued to survive, but the pirates began to pay 'visits' to the colony. They would demand food, and whatever other supplies they could take, often at blasterpoint. Usually they would take what they wanted, and leave, with no bloodshed. This went on for years, as the family had a young daughter. In a sharp escalation, the Pirate group that had been harrassing them became increasingly hostile. Through eavesdropping and speculation, several of the colonists had voiced concerns that they had fallen in league with a militarist political organization attempting to force the Republic to build an army...and that there was some kind of project they were planning to build in the system.

It all came to a head when a party of raiders attacked the town, wiping out the entire population of the colony. A few of the colonists fled into the surrounding forest, Chet being one of them, at the age of 5. According to his account of the attack, his parents, older brother, and younger sister were all brutally killed. Though he refuses to speak of it to anyone, it is believed that he actually witnessed the killings, before running away. He became lost in the forests, and was sheltered by a nearby tribe of native Ewoks. After several months, a strange old man came to the village, and took Chet back to his dwelling, where the young boy was finally reunited with his eldest brother Corran, who had been found by the old hermit several years previous. The old man would never give his real name, so the boys would make up new names for him every year or two. He seemed to indulge them in their wit, as he began to teach them about their innate abilities with The Force, teaching them out of an old book he called the Journals of Baadu, a sect of neutral force adepts, to which the old man had belonged to many years ago. He claimed the Jedi would never allow him to teach the knowledge, and would hunt him down if they knew he existed. The boys took to their training quickly, and Chet readied himself night and day...hoping one day to take revenge on his family's killers.

The two boys eventually succeeded in their training, being granted the title of 'warrior' by the old man they had known as a father figure. He made arrangements, through means unknown to them, for a ship to stop by the system, and pick them up. They set off, at the age of 17, to find their family's murderers. It did not take them long to find them, and upon learning their location, they headed for a seedy bar on Bespin. Ignoring his brother's advice for patience, Chet entered the bar to confront them. Driven by his overconfidence and lust for revenge, he goaded the group of mercenaries into a fight. A fight he did not win. Corran joined the fight, and both brothers killed most of the mercenaries, but not before one struck Chet in the head with an activated vibroshiv, severing parts of his emigdula. Corran was able to save his brother's life, and rush him to a medical facility, but Chet's ability to consciously touch the Force had been all but destroyed. The 'hole' left behind nearly consumed Chet. It was clear it was still strong with him, but the mental shock sent Chet into a deep depression, for many months. After searching for purpose, Chet turned to one other passion that seemed to always drive him...starships. He decided to join the Republic Navy. He was charismatic and had the innate ability to inspire loyalty in all he found under his command. He was seen as a brilliant tactician and through a few skirmishes where his skills saved their lives, he gained more than a few friends in the admiralty. In the gathering storm of the Stark Conflict, Chet joined the vigilante force put together by Senator Ranulph Tarkin. Driven by his desire to prevent others from falling victim to out-of-control Pirate factions, he quickly became a task force commander within the assembled fleet. Lucky enough to survive the Navicomputer Virus, he proved his prowess during the Jedi-led Counterattack, where he led a task force to a stunning victory. During the conflict, he also chanced to meet his long-lost brother and Jedi Knight, Davin. Davin had studied under several of the masters, and had taken particular interest in the lectures of Qui Gonn Jinn about the Living Force. After the end of the war, both began to form a very close friendship. Chet also bore the unhappy news of Senator Tarkin's death to his family. He formed a friendship with the family, which would play a pivotal role later in his military career. Not wishing to be branded as a heretic by the Jedi, Corran departed to continue his studies into the order of Baadu, and forbade Chet to tell Davin of his existence, until the time was right.

As fate would have it, it would not be very long...

The Clone Wars

As the Galaxy was plunged into the Clone Wars, Davin found himself drawn in as many Jedi did, to command Clone troops in battle. Chet's position with the Navy placed him at the forefront of the fighting on several occasions, and the two would always try to join forces when their duties allowed. Chet kept his association with the Jedi strictly business, and in official circles, never let his association with them become knowledge. Even then, many in the navy resented Jedi, how they would take over command, boss them around, and constantly ask them to put their lives on the line. Many were even injured due to what they thought were wreckless stunts by Jedi Generals to increase their own power. The growing anti-Jedi sentiment in the Navy seemed to take shape everywhere, and Chet began to keep his contact with his brother secret, for fear of his career. In secret, Chet even suspected that some of his colleagues may be right. While he trusted his brother, the Jedi as a whole seemed to be taking over...with vast armies and navies at their command, without challenge. Having been granted command of a Venator-class destroyer within the Coruscant Home Fleet, he led a task force that he began to fill with loyal men. He carefully controlled the flow of information on his ship and in his forces. Given his track record, he was allowed to execute his command as he saw fit, with little interference. In such stressful times, the admiralty was more interested in results and preservation of ships.

Davin and Chet both joined the defense of Coruscant during the Second Battle of Coruscant. Chet's destroyer remained in the fighting for several hours, as he attempted to rally parts of Home Fleet during the communications breakdown that kept them out of touch with their overall commander, Vice Admiral Terrinald Screed. He was successful in keeping the bulk of the forces in the area intact, maintaining a battle line that assisted in keeping the attacking Separatist fleet from pulling out of the planet's gravity well. However, his own ship sustained heavy damage, and he ordered an evacuation. Rather than let the ship simply be destroyed, he himself set the ship on a collision course with the largest separatist cruiser in the area, with the turbolasers locked forward in continuous fire mode, at full power. He managed to reach an escape pod, as the two ships vaporized each other in a cloud of debris.

Davin himself had joined many Jedi in their defense of the city from millions of Battle Droids that had been landed on the city-planet. He was injured when escape pods from the battle above impacted in his vicinity. Chet's was one of them. The two were taken to local triage centers, and later medical bays, where they would recover, side by side. Chet confronted Davin about the Jedi, wondering why it was they would allow the Sith to form such vast armies...accusing him and his order of setting up the whole war, to put the Jedi into power. Davin refused to answer the charges of his brother...both due to his fatigue and injuries, as well as his wish to not engage in what he considered an ill-contrived conspiracy theory by his brother.

That very night, Order 66 was given.

Chet received the news via a holocom from clone troopers within the medical ward where they were staying. None were in any condition to fight, most were dying. Chet took out his lightsaber, which he'd not used for years, and attempted to arrest Davin. The two engaged in a duel that more or less destroyed the medical ward. Not wishing to harm his brother, Davin made no attempt to counterattack, and both combatants fought viciously until they were both completely exhausted. As another contingent of clones arrived to restore order, and to arrest him, Davin finally realized what had happened. The Chancellor had ordered the Jedi killed. Davin made a hasty escape offworld on a hired transport to the first world he could find...Tatooine. He was persued by the newly proclaimed Emperor's forces, even as Chet recovered, and was transferred to the Ryloth fleet, directly under Wilhuff Tarkin's jurisdiction.

Davin was able to evade the death squad after him, along with another Jedi, Corvus Dalen, and a few younger Jedi students. Davin and this rag-tag entourage managed to evade the Empire for several years, only to be hunted down by one of the Emperor's many Inquisitors. This one had been somewhat trained in the Jedi arts, and managed to track Davin, calling in Imperial reinforcements. They managed to get away in a stolen imperial shuttle, only to end up in the Ryloth sector, and without any hope of escape. It was at that moment that Chet's ship arrived. He had monitored the communications ordering their surrender, but had reverted out of hyperspace much closer to Davin than his persuers. After an announcement that he was making the arrest in the name of the Emperor, Chet captured his brother's shuttle, and put all of them in the ship's brig. The Inquisitor insisted on taking the prisoners immediately, but Chet fended off her requests by appealing to contact Lord Vader with instructions on how to procede, and with procedural beurocracy that kept the prisoners in his care until legal matters could be dealt with.

That night, Chet arranged for a lapse in the guard rotation, and visited his brother in his brig cell. Chet made peace with Davin, having realized the truth about the Emperor and his betrayal of the Jedi. There, they drew up a plan for the escape. It was the only plan that could succeed. Chet vehemently objected, but in the end his older brother's will would not be undone.

They would procede with the plan the next morning...

The Living Force

The Living Force is thought to be in most living beings. It is what "makes you sensitive to other living things, makes you intuitive, and allows you to read other people's minds, et cetera". Jedi can sense Living Force in life-forms. Sick or dying organisms have little Living Force, while healthy ones usually have the quantity of their midi-chlorian count. The connection to the Living Force apparently also allows Jedi Masters to retain their identity when they become one with the Force. Qui-Gon Jinn was said to be a master of the Living Force—with a philosophy that focused more on sensitivity to living things, being in the present rather than the future, and relying on one's instincts rather than visions.

The Pommel is exquisitely detailed as the falcon's head, with precious Corusca gemstones within the eyes. The body of the falcon forms the hilt, and forms the shape of the Falcon's feathery torso, with the soft black grip sections outlined in its Illyrium mounts. Illyrium is a semi-hard metal with a silver hue known to diffuse light in a peculiar way, giving it slight Gold highlights, when it is viewed in bright light. Illyrium is known to react to strong concentrations of Force energy, giving this hilt the effect of conforming to the hand of a force-sensitive individual very comfortably. (+1D if force-sensitive wielder does not have The Lightsaber dexterity skill). The feet of the falcon form handguards around the emitter, with the talons being intricutely faceted Corusca gems.

The Estimated value of this lightsaber is in excess of 50,000 credits, and is kept onboard the Siren in it's own secure, retracting display case of transparent durasteel.

Davin rarely uses his personal armor.
He will wear it only when the mission is extremely hazardous (even for a Jedi), or calls for heavy combat action.
This armor is usually worn under the cloak, between the inner and outer robes.

Imperial Storm Commando Helmet

(Mk II Mod 3, ISTC Storm Commando Variant)

Reinforced helmet contains Breathing Filters, Atmospheric Cycling Unit, Atmospheric Intake and Processing Unit, and power cells. It features cellular padding inside the helmet and a hermetic auto-seal at its base. Helmet computer is located above comlink microphone (nose of helmet); lateral sensor housing is located on helmet flanks. Helmet is cooled and atmosphere-processed to keep the trooper operating at peak efficiency at all times. The two vents on the back of the helmet are heat dispersion panels. Comtech Series IV helmet speaker uses three-phase sonic filtering for clear sound (it is connected to the audio pickup). Talking to non-Stormtroopers is achieved using the helmet's Vocoder.

Different frequency options for the comlink exist (Private Channels such as 03074 and the Command Channel). The helmet is also able to pick up transmissions made by non-Stormtrooper comlinks. (Note: black strip that runs above eye slots is a Broadband Communications Antenna) [The comlink uses linked encoding sequences to change frequencies every few seconds while keeping all troopers in the unit synchronized. If the helmet is removed without the trooper first hitting the comlink's tongue toggled control stud, the frequency coding routine is automatically deleted from that helmet].

Visual Systems:
Polarizing Lenses to protect against intense glare which provide enhanced combat vision OR Holographic Vision Processors (allows vision through many barriers such as smoke, darkness and fire; shields eyes against excessive brightness; and creates holographic images of surrounding terrain).

Multi-Frequency Targeting and Acquisition System (MFTAS):
Assists perception in darkness, smoke and other low-visibility situations. It also assists in aiming against moving targets.

Backplate:
Contains an (automatically activating) emergency 20 minutes of oxygen if the trooper is exposed to (and moves through) vacuum or underwater (part of pressured gas system). It also contains a power pack.

Stomach Armour:
Contains Manual Suit Seal and Environmental Controls.

Thigh Armour:
Both have reinforced alloy plate ridge and lower right side near the knee contains Suit Systems power cells (looks like a row of boxes).

Shin Armour:
Left upper side has a Sniper Position Knee Protector Plate.

Utility Belt:
Has two Blast Energy Sinks to protect the trooper's hips (to dissipate blaster fire).

Boots:

Positive gripped.
