what can you "use" it for?

  • metagaming - the sheer joy of having unlimited possibilities of scoring "points"
  • Bragging rights / pride: part of current motivator for things like rank/promotions. For this, sheets need to be displayed publicly (like ABG).
  • ABG - Crossover w/entire system? Would be ideal... need to work out D system. However, likely too much for CS to handle. Need to confer.
  • Zealot/narratives - Should work out well as quantification, except for characters that wish to be more advanced than they're allowed to start out.
  • Bonus points on ITOD, etc.? - but this has not been given for rank, and perhaps should not for any other non-gaming modifier.
  • Ranks, medals, merits - or these could work the opposite way, enabling extra points for attributes.

In the end, we can offer only intangibles. I suppose that's all the RS is though....

what can you improve?

The goal should be that no one person can ever improve every attribute to maximum. How long to max out a particular attribute?

Physical abilities:

how can you improve it?

ITOD:

  • Every kill (use standard system - parts can be changed in specific instances) helps contribute to something
  • Mission outcome (varies per mission; 2 results: all MCs receive same, and all MFs receive same)
  • Narratives:
    • length? e.g. 1-100: +1, 101-500: +2 -1, 501-1000: +3 -1, 1000+: +5 -2; increase numbers if appropriate to overall system
    • quality of prose: could range from -2 to +3.
    • either: CS awards specific attributes based on narrative (more work for CS), or CS only needs to judge quality (less work) and person can choose pts (raises possibility of not corresponding to narrative - less preferable but does allow much freedom).
  • Zero reports can earn a +1, or some other minimal amount
  • Top performers earn special rewards? (e.g. Top Gun, Top Narrative)
  • Squadron bonuses need to apply as well with personal boosts to all involved

  • ABG GMs need to generate CSes for every member of RS? No. The system would grant people a certain amount of base attribute points from already earned rank, medals, missions flown, etc. that they could then distribute as they liked.
  • Give RS merits for correctly interpreting the ABG's character creation system and rolling a character? Sure.. we can reward them for making an ABG-compatible character.. ABG CS can set the parameters for that. They wouldn't necessary have to follow the ABG system though.
  • Does any randomness/chance ("rolling") come into play when creating/upgrading a character? Yes, that is very much a possibility, but doesn't have to happen.
  • "Progression" for general activity would need to be low to be fair to ABG members, or ABG CS could award CP for individual accomplishments? Yes, another item to be worked out by the ABG CS.
  • What do you do when someone's character dies? Well, the person would have to kill themself during an ITOD - in Zealot that'd mean writing your own death, and a gamer would have to die in their in-game mission, with craft destroyed or whatever. But yeah, it'd be realistic, and we should allow deaths. People could get bonuses towards their next character - ABG gives 70% of stats of old character.

Vason: Crossover: As long as there is a system in place, it actually would be rather easy to implement. First Rule: Only ONE character may gain the bonuses from your Holy Sheet. If that character dies, then tough cookies.

[1:10pm] Vason: I would say that Holy Sheet character death isnt important, unless people like the idea. I wouldnt think too many people would write their own Zealot death if it wasnt inevitable, or have their official ITOD report mark them as KIA

[1:11pm] Vason: Second Rule: ABG characters confer no bonus to their holy sheet counterpart. Holy Sheet characters should be participation based, not based on how much CP your other self has racked up

[1:16pm] Vason: I would think Advancement should be through 'grinding,' with a set amount of bonus given to a skill via a given action. IE, Licah gets Top Gun in ITOD 1138, therefore gets +.2 to the pilot skill of the craft he flew. Markus completed the mission, but didnt get Top Gun, therefore gets +.1. Vason was lazy, and submits a 0, getting only +.01
