This RS Minecraft proposal seeks to make Minecraft integrated with the Rebel Squadrons.

  • Monthly participation
  • Skills

These apply to co-op, the current mode on our server.

Monthly participation

Earn one badge per month according to minimum of time played:

  • 1 hour (Wood Badge)
  • 5 hours (Stone Badge)
  • 10 hours (Iron Badge)
  • 20 hours (Gold Badge)
  • 30 hours (Diamond Badge)

Badges stackable in 5s, signified by perhaps a silver border. Displayable in medals box, prominently placed on RS profile.

Use screenshots as proof of time.

A Minecraft Platform Coordinator could also designate one task per month, and if members complete it, they'd earn another badge similar to the above, with a sample title being (Nether Badge), also stackable in 5s.

Skills

RS profile displays "MineCraft skill:"

Skill level 0-20. 0 indicates no tasks completed. 10 should indicate high level of competence. 20 should indicate complete expert and high achiever.

Points given as follows:

  • 1 pt (Logging into RS server)
  • 2 pt (1+ hours ingame total)
  • 1 pt (2+ hours ingame)
  • 1 pt (3+ hours ingame)
  • 1 pt (5+ hours ingame)
  • 2 pt (10+ hours ingame)
  • 2 pt (25+ hours ingame)
  • 2 pt (50+ hours ingame)
  • 2 pt (All in-game achievements reached)
  • 2 pt (Successful completion of 4+ designated custom missions, RS or not)
  • 2 pt (Successful completion of a designated specially designed RS custom mission (similar to ComTacs)

(18/20 used)

Need one more easy-to-measure achievement for 2 pts that can be done within 5 hours. Currently people will earn 8 points simply by playing for 5 hours and doing the in-game achievements. Of course, they can hit 12 by passing all of the custom missions, but we don't have specific plans to implement these yet.

Use screenshots as proof of these reports.

Skills earned

  • 0 (n/a)
  • 1-2 Minecraft Cadet
  • 3-5 Minecraft Lieutenant
  • 6-9 Minecraft Captain
  • 10-14 Minecraft General
  • 15-19 Minecraft Admiral
  • 20 Minecraft Jedi

(Feel free to liberally edit these name suggestions.)

Applications for other games

We can use badges and skills with other games as well. Since competing for the highest score on ITOD missions does not motivate pilots very strongly these days, it may work well for the X-Wing series. Let's try it: RS X-Wing reboot

The skills follow the pattern of Beginner's Path. Badges reward regular activity, while skills reward one-time achievements.
