A completely frozen and desolate world, the extreme cold of Shiva destroys all hopes of life. No ship or probe has ever reached the surface intact. The chill freezes the components and yanks any such craft to the surface. Several craft lie on the surface, trophies to an unconquered world, as a display to the foolhardy.

The most noticeable feature of Shiva, as seen from the safe outer-atmosphere distance, is Mt. Dominant. Spearheading from the planet's equator this mountain rises an estimated seventeen and a half kilometers, making it by far the largest mountain in the system. The mountain's presence has caused debates between multiple scientific groups as to whether the planet used to have a heated core, capable of pushing plates together enough to form the huge mountain. This current trend of thought also leaves many people to believe that at one time Shiva was a much warmer planet.
