Biography

Physical data: 171 cm, 68 kg, short black hair, brown eyes. As an ex-engineer he worked a lot with heavy equipment which kept him fit.

Syrius was born on a modified Corellian corvette, the ‘Bira’, property of his father, Harold Ephrenia, a freelance merchant. He passed his infancy there, between plasma conduits and narrow corridors, having short trips on planets and bases during the short periods of time when the Bira was docked and not in flight.

When he was nine his parents decided to found a society with three other merchants. The society bought four freighters. During the maiden voyage of the fleet, the Bira leading the convoy, Harold took his only son to the engine room. The boy was fascinated by the view and chose to become an engineer. At the age of ten Syrius began to work aboard the Bira.

Syrius never felt the need of going to school, because he felt his world was made up only of hyperspace drivers, sub-lightspeed engines and wrenches. Anyway he used to read in the short spare time he had.

When he was 16 he finished studying, with the help of his father, all the ships’ technical specifications. He acquired, with experience and study, a very large knowledge of almost all the common ships seen in space including fighters and warships. During the same year, the Empire payed his father’s company to perform a task for them. In the middle of the course a rebel strike force attacked the convoy destroying two of the four freighters and disabling the ‘Bira’. Rebel ATRs were sent to capture the ship but suddenly a VSD appeared, forcing the rebels to escape. The Bira was requisitioned and its crew, including Syrius, his father and his mother, was condemned to hard labour for collaboration with rebels after a puppet trial.

To pay his debt to Empire’s justice, Syrius was sent on the Corellian Corvette Assassin as an engineer. He stayed there for 3 years acquiring more and more respect from Imperial officers so much that he was offered to sign up and join the navy as an engineer, his guilt cancelled. He accepted and was transferred to the Malevolent Fregate, where he was assigned as starcraft mechanic. He kept repairing all kinds of TIE fighters for almost two years.

At the age of 21 a rebel ambush seriously damaged the Malevolent and Syrius was ordered to defend the ship from the FRG Endeavour attacks by piloting an assault gunboat. Even if that was the first time he piloted a starcraft he felt soon at ease and made some damage to the attacking frigate with his favourite warhead but he was soon forced to surrender for the serious damage suffered by his craft and for the destruction of the Malevolent.

Interrogated by the Rebels he answered he was a simple engineer and that was the first time he had ever flown a starfighter. He didn’t know much about the Empire and its plans for the war but he revealed what he knew about the specifications of its crafts. The rebels did not put him into prison.

After a 6 month period passed on the Endeavour working for the rebels he decided to change the course of his life: the engineering career was linked in his memories to the loss of his parents, his freedom and the Empire’s tortures. He decided to begin a new life as a starfighter pilot. After a two year training he was accepted as rebel pilot.
