Warcraft II

DOSBox

• Download and install DOSBox ( http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1 )

• Create a directory for all of your DOSBox games and keep track of its location (e.g. on Mac, /Users/me/DOS ; on Windows, C:\Program Files\DOS )

• Open DOSBox once, then quit it using the command:

exit

• Find and open the DOSBox configuration file. Mac: go to Finder, hold down Option, at the top menu, Go > Library; Preferences; DOSBox x.yz Preferences. Windows: See http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/dosbox.conf#Windows

• Edit the file in a text editor (Mac: TextEdit; Windows: Notepad). At the bottom of the file, switch "ipx=false" to: "ipx=true". In the middle of the file, switch "cycles=auto" to "cycles=fixed 8000". Finally, put in the following lines at the very bottom of the file, then save and exit:

mount c /Users/me/DOS   (note! replace this last bit with the full location of the directory you created above)

Hamachi

• Download and install Hamachi ( https://www.vpn.net/ )

• Open Hamachi, hit the power button, create an account

• Join the network rebel_squadrons, password rs2016

Warcraft II

• Download Warcraft II, "RIP version" ( http://www.myabandonware.com/game/warcraft-ii-tides-of-darkness-2sh#download )

• Unzip Warcraft II, put the whole unzipped directory into your recently created games directory, and rename it war2

• Open DOSBox, and enter:

cd war2
wc2crack
y
y

Playing Matches

• Hosting? Simply type in DOSBox:

ipxnet startserver 2000

• Joining? Get the IP address of the host via Hamachi, and type in DOSBox:

ipxconnect 192.168.1.1 2000    (example IP, replace with actual IP)

• Now follow these instructions in DOSBox:
