Dave was born in 51 BBY ([[16BrS]]), the son of aristocratic parents and a scion of the noble Astoris house of Yaga Minor. He entered the Republic Navy as a fighter pilot shortly before Palpatine's rise to power (ca. 26 BBY). After fighting in the Clone Wars (22-19 BBY), he remained in the service of the Imperial Navy, where he later moved from starfighters to capital ships. He commanded the [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Victory_II-class_Star_Destroyer VSD-II] ''[[Peril]]'' under Grand Admiral Thrawn, operating in the Unknown Regions for several years, until being given a mission so chilling that he renounced Imperial service forever and defected, taking his ship and crew with him (2 ABY). In service to the Rebel Alliance, he was given command of smaller vessels, until the dire need of well-captained ships for the Battle of Endor pushed him into command of a Nebulon B. Frigate (4 ABY). After the Battle of Endor he was given a commission with the newly formed [[Rebel Squadrons]] Battlegroup, which was designed by Admiral Ackbar to operate independently in the region of the Minos Cluster and Cadrel Expanse. 
 His service within the Rebel Squadrons has continued to this day. He was placed in command of [[Crusader Fleet]], making his flagship the CRS ''McGrath'' (ca. 5 ABY). He later commanded [[Redemption Fleet]], with his flagship none other than his previous ship in Imperial service, the ''[[Peril]]'' (ca. 5 ABY and 7 ABY). At one point he was elevated to the position of [[Fleet Commander]] of the entire Rebel Squadrons (ca. 6 ABY). In early 8 ABY, Dave was in his late fifties and had completed over 30 years of military service. Unwilling to retire, he decided that although he would step back from leadership in the Rebel Squadrons, he would continue to serve where the New Republic and Rebel Squadrons could make use of him. After brief consultation, he was put in command of a special task force, designed to explore the limits of known space around the Cadrel Expanse and approaching the Unknown Regions, and to probe the limits of the power of the Imperial splinter group Star Vipers. This self-imposed semi-retirement was of extremely brief duration, for in late 8 ABY, Dave was recalled by Rebel Squadrons' [[High Command]], who once again made him [[Fleet Commander]]. Dave was present for the devastating [[Battle of Blerthmore]] on 44:2:27 (late 8 ABY), in which he was injured and unable to resist the assault on the RS capital. 
 Since Blerthmore, Dave has been primarily in command of the [[Greeop Defense Force]] and has grown obsessed with keeping the peace in what he sees as the zone of RS influence. His failure to do so may be attributed to the few ships at his disposal as much of the RS fleet is part of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] and is far away. Although he and the GDF have clung tenaciously to the Greeop Sector and to some extent the Cadrel Expanse, all other RS territories have been lost to lawlessness.

The bulk of Dave's personality can be traced to either his planet of origin and family or his decades of military service, particularly his service to the Empire. The aristocracy of Yaga Minor are a proud group, despite the fact that they all hail from immigrants. One of the more curious attributes of the aristocracy is an avoidance of contractions in speech. Dave, like other nobles from Yaga Minor, considers contractions to be vulgar, and will only be seen speaking them when disoriented or under extreme duress. From his family, the house of Astoris, Dave has inherited a grave respect for the bonds of family in general and for his family specifically. For him, family is just about everything - despite the fact that much of his family pays their allegiance to the Empire.

Dave is generally sombre and restrained. He has been called "straight-laced." Part of this comes from his long experience serving militaries - first the Old Republic, then the Empire, then the Rebellion and New Republic. Dave is the quintessential navy officer, believing in strict discipline, a professional atmosphere, and even pomp and circumstance. He is not known as a harsh disciplinarian, perhaps because his age and gravitas seem to compel respect and obedience without the need for draconian measures. Dave's restrained nature is also due to the extremely high number of deaths that he has either witnessed, caused, or ordered. In fact, he has become somewhat obsessed with death, labeling it the great enemy. Despite this, Dave is also capable of humor on occasion, and may sometimes be caught muttering a witticism or some other dry remark.

Dave has contributed in many ways to the actual leadership and administration of the RS. He joined in June of 1996, making him among the oldest active members of the club. Originally, as most RS members of the time were, he was known by AOL screenames, his first being RaptorFun and second ReblRaptor. His first squadron was Delta Squadron, where he flew the Mac edition of X-Wing. He worked his way up the ranks until he became [[Crusader Fleet]] CO during early 1997. He served as RS Medals Officer in late 1997/early 1998. From June 1998-July 2000 he was [[Redemption Fleet]] CO, where he was tirelessly active in seeking out new divisions for the RS and pushing older divisions to Fleet status. It was during this time period that Dave was promoted to the rank of [[Fleet Admiral]]. Not content with this service, he aimed at serving the RS as a whole.

From August of 2000 to September of 2001, Dave served as [[Fleet Commander]], presiding over several projects, including the creation of the first roster database and the transformation of the RS domain as well as the extremely successful First [[Outer Rim War]]. In June 2002, Dave returned to High Command by once again becoming [[Redemption Fleet]] CO, remaining there until September 2003. Between September 2003 and January 2006, Dave played Star Wars Galaxies, but remained a member of Redemption Fleet and served as Vice-Minister of Justice. In June 2006, Dave accepted additional positions in Aurora Force and the Patriot Battle Fleet. He was also appointed to High Command as an [[Alderman]]. In October 2006, Dave was elected RS [[FC]] for the second time. In the same month he stepped down from his position in the [[Council of Justice]]. The '''Greeop Defense Force''' (GDF) is the first of two [[task group]]s operational in the [[Republic Shield]] as of [[44GrS]]. It was formed in the aftermath of the destructive [[Battle of Blerthmore]], when the vast bulk of Republic Shield forces were assembled into the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] and sent forth to wage war in the [[Subterrel Sector]]. The GDF are tasked with the protection of the home territories of the RS, which includes keeping peace, law and order in the regions.

==Leadership==
The head of the GDF is the [[Fleet Commander]] of the overall task force, Fleet Admiral [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]]. His unofficial Deputy is Admiral [[Rahj Tharen]]. [[Logistics Officer]] [[David Vaughan]] keeps shipping and supplies flowing through the myriad RS regions, and Admiral [[Joshua Hawkins]] heads up the RS-specific counter-intelligence duties.

==Ships==
At the formation of the GDF in [[44GrS#44:3|44:3]], the GDF had only four warships in its arsenal. These were:

==History==
The [[Battle of Blerthmore]] was the most devastating defeat ever suffered by the RS. The fleet was decimated. Still, RS Command decided to try to strike back at the enemy that had struck them this blow. Within a month of the battle, the RS had formed the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] from its remaining ships and dispatched it to the [[Subterrel Sector]] to find the enemy. Then-[[FC]] [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]] had planned to lead this strike force, but was convinced that the RS home systems needed his presence, especially after the devastating battle. After much deliberation, he decided to remain behind in the [[Greeop Sector]] to reassure the worlds in RS space and to try to rebuild the infrastructure of the fleet.

The departure of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] left Dave with very few ships. He had his personal ship, the ''[[Peril]]'', which he made his flagship. Unfortunately, it was the largest vessel left in the entire sector. He reserved for himself the ''[[End of Days]]'', ''[[Apostate]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'', which had all survived the [[Battle of Blerthmore]]. The small flotilla of four ships was christened the Greeop Defense Force, which explained its purpose and goal. Until the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] returns to RS space, the [[Fleet Admiral]] has only the GDF to assist him in calming fearful populations, rebuilding bases and facilities, and protecting RS worlds from attack by the unscrupulous.

The GDF has been involved in several small-scale operations since the departure of the SSF. On 44:3:31, the ''[[Peril]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'' defeated a small pirate force in the [[T'seran system]] of the [[Tarla Sector]]. Several days later on 3:34, the ''[[Halberd]]'' finished construction at the ''[[Eagle's Nest]]'' Shipyard and was pressed into service as the fifth vessel of the GDF. A week later, the Corvette [[Shadowblen (ship)|Shadowblen]] arrived in the [[Greeop system]] and was incorporated into the GDF, further boosting its size.

Unfortunately, on [[44GrS#44:4:23|44:4:23]] the [[Halberd]] was destroyed in a shocking terrorist attack, once again reducing the size of the hard-pressed GDF.

By [[44GrS#44:5|44:5]], the [[PSG]] Task Force had returned to RS space in the Greeop Sector. Although the ships of this task force were worn out by months of heavy campaigning in the [[Minos Cluster]], they were soon put into top order and pressed into business. Greatly increased in size and capability by this addition, the GDF has begun to go on the offensive against hostile forces in surrounding RS space.

==Fictional Integrity==

With the out-of-character resignation of Dave from the position of Fleet Commander, it was decided that until the current tour is over; fictionally, he will remain as Fleet Commander. [[Raven]] will continue to serve, fictionally, as [[RSXO]] until such time as the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] returns home. The [[Logistics Office]] feels that this will serve the integrity of the storyline the most; and prevent any 'leaps of logic' from being necessary. Dave has graciously offered to continue writing [[FC]] narratives, so fictionally; nothing has happened even with the shake-up of the RS command structure following his resignation.

The '''FC narratives''' are a series that trace the story of the RS-wide storyline from the perspective of the [[Fleet Commander]] and other personnel on the RS Command Staff. The FC narratives run parallel to the official [[VSG]]/[[RID]] ITOD storylines. Both sets of narratives began more or less with the devastating [[Battle of Blerthmore]]. After the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] left RS space to initiate the [[Subterrel Conflict]], the FC narratives are mainly following the story of the small force left behind to protect RS holdings in the [[Greeop system]], [[Cadrel Expanse]], and [[Binaural Sector]].

The FC narratives then currently follow the exploits of the [[Greeop Defense Force]]. This page will provide background information to this storyline for those who are interested.

==Colonization==
The planet is an extremely popular destination since it was colonized and joined the New Republic. It was first discovered by an Old Republic galactic cartography expedition. It went largely unnoticed until Alderaanian refugees colonized the planet's land masses shortly after Alderaan's destruction in an effort to relocate on a world that is parallel to Alderaan's beauty. After the fall of Palpatine's Empire, Mon Calamari and Quarren colonists began to settle Tarsonis' deep oceans with large floating cities and have since turned Tarsonis into the largest Mon Calamari and Quarren population center outside of Mon Calamari itself. These three groups of colonists have joined together to form a planetary, colonial government which leaves the Nincar in peace.

==Ecomony==
With 75% of its surface covered by free standing water, Tarsonis also has a developing aquaculture technology led by the Mon Calamari and Quarren colonists which is already beginning to produce mass quantities of food. The colonists are now working on creating trade networks to export this resource. The Alderaanian colonists also have their own enterprises with a resort and tourist industry, taking advantage of Tarsonis' many beaches. Also notable is Tarsonis University, which is the most distinguished center of higher learning in the Greeop System.

==Government==
The Alderaanians, [[Mon Calamari]] and [[Quarren]] have united to form a planetary government that belongs to the [[New Republic]]. The capital city of Tarsonis is [[New Morea City]], populated chiefly by the Alderaanian colonists. The government is headed by an executive branch under a President. The current president is [[Voss Aluin]]. [[Nincar]] have been invited to participate in the global government, but have so far declined. As they are technologically quite behind the colonists, the refusal has not been much regretted.

==Defense==
The military of Tarsonis, the [[Tarsonis Defense Force]] (TDF), works in coalition with the Rebel Squadrons fleets to defend the planet. The TDF is currently armed with 2 squadrons of B-Wings and an [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Thranta-class_warship Alderaanian War Cruiser]. After completing her secondary education on Alderaan, she immediately moved into the planet's diplomatic corps, and served as an ambassador for several years leading up to the destruction of her home planet by the first Death Star. After Alderaan was destroyed, she moved to Tarsonis, along with a substantial contingent of her people, and established the human colony on the planet. She was instantly one of the most important people on the planet, and was indispensable in welding together a planetary, colonial government between the Mon Calamari, Quarren, and Alderaanians. Shortly after this, she was elected President of the combined colonial government. Her authority does not extend over the native Nincar of the planet.

Aluin has been heavily involved with the Republic Shield since its establishment on Blerthmore following the Battle of Endor. She has always been a proponent of Tarsonis cooperating with the RS, and largely thanks to her it has been a fruitful relationship. She maintains a cordial friendship with [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]] and since the [[Battle of Blerthmore]] has offered him the use of the [[Tarsonis Defense Force]] should that become necessary. She most recently gave permission for the establishment of facilities for the RS [[Academy]] on Tarsonis.

Aluin has been described as "fluid in movement and stately in manner." She moves very deliberately in a way which many find enchanting. She is graceful and polite, as befits a career diplomat and politician. She is rarely ruffled, always calm and frequently warm to others.

==History==

The ''Peril'' was constructed after the Clone Wars had ended, entering the service of the Empire in 18 BBY. In 8 BBY it was transferred to the fleet of Grand Admiral Thrawn, where it soon came to be captained by then Imperial Captain [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]]. When Dave defected to the Rebel Alliance in 2 ABY, he brought the ship with him. For several years it was bounced around in various fleets of the fledgling New Republic. When Dave took command of [[Redemption Fleet]] in 5 ABY, he requisitioned, received, and retrofitted the ''Peril'' for service as his flagship. It served in numerous battles under Dave and his successors. In one well-documented campaign, the vessel under the command of Dave arrived at the rendezvous point for [[Redemption Fleet]] and [[Retribution Wing]] forces far in the [[Outer Rim]] before heading out into the Unknown Regions to investigate reports of missing warships. It came under attack by Imperial forces led by the Modified Frigate ''Pronota''. It supported the Star Destroyer ''Prometheus'' in holding Imperial forces at bay until Sentinel task force, led by the Star Destroyer ''Liberator'', arrived to help repulse the Imperials (R2F800). The ''Peril'' was retired from duty in Redemption Fleet during the command of [[Leonard Cable]] in late 7 ABY.

At this time the ''Peril'' was transferred again, so that its original owner, Dave, could claim command of it. He at present commands the ship as his own personal vessel. It is unclear what arrangements Dave has made with the New Republic, but he treats the vessel as his own personal property and its crew as his own personal retainers, often rewarding them for service with bonuses out of his own pocket. Dave commands the ''Peril'' as his personal ship, and it is always at his beck and call. Recently, the ''Peril'' was away from the [[Greeop system]] during the [[Battle of Blerthmore]], but it returned afterward, although too late to participate in the fighting. With the departure of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] to the [[Subterrel Sector]], the ''Peril'' became the flagship of the newly christened [[Greeop Defense Force]] on 44:3:13.

As flagship of the GDF, the ''Peril'' has seen some combat but has primarily been used as a mobile operations center and diplomatic weapon. It serves as the seat of operations for not only the GDF but all RS government in the wake of the abandonment of the [[Fleet Domed Command Complex|Command Dome]] on [[Blerthmore]]. It has also been used to try to sway public opinion, as when it ferried Dave to [[Caelum]] when he made a plea to that planet's Senate on 44:3:21. The ''Peril'' has seen some combat, however. On 44:3:31, the ''Peril'', acting with the ''[[Marauder]]'', destroyed the Corvette ''Blood'' and the Bulk Cruiser ''Redskull'' in a massive space battle in the [[Tarla Sector]].

In order to ensure its competitiveness in the evolving world of post-Endor space combat, the ''Peril'' has received some modifications. The most important was the installation of a secondary shield generator in the vessel's fighter bay. The new generator provides an entirely separate shield grid beneath the main grid for extra protection, although the secondary generator is only about half as powerful as the main. The consequence of this installation is that the ''Peril'' carries a smaller fighter and shuttle complement than most ''Victory II'''s.

The ''Peril'' maintains a complement of one reinforced squadron of Tie Avengers. Axe Squadron is responsible for providing a fighter screen for the destroyer. Twelve fighters (three flights) maintain patrols on a regular basis, and the additional four fighters make up the command flight and typically only fly when Dave himself flies his personal T/A.

==History==
The ''Apostate'' attempted to defect to RS forces during their campaign against the ''Deathbringer'''s task force, but was pursued by an Imperial force intending to reclaim the vessel, led by the Frigate ''Daveen II''. The transport ''Sigma'' arrived before RS forces could come to the defence of the ''Apostate'', and the ''Sigma'' deployed a field of ion cannon-equipped mines. RS forces led by the Dreadnaught ''[[End of Days]]'' arrived to defend the vessel from the pursuing Imperial force and assist it in escaping to RS space. Despite the assistance of RS forces, the Frigate ''Daveen II'' arrived and directly engaged the ''Apostate'' and disabled it. A boarding party onboard the escort shuttle ''Omega'' attempted to board and capture the vessel, however RS forces destroyed the shuttle before the operation could be executed. The RS corvette ''Apollo'' arrived with a repair crew, and set about repairing the vessel to continue its flight. RS forces defended the repair operation until its completion. The ''Apostate'' then continued on its run to the hyperspace point, however the Escort Carrier ''Nebula'' reinforced the Imperial attack force, and led Imperial forces in an attempt to destroy the vessel. RS reinforcements arrived in the form of the Calamari Cruiser ''Stingray'', which proved an effective counter to the ''Nebula''. Both the Frigate ''Daveen II'' and the Escort Carrier ''Nebula'' were defeated in the engagement. The ''Apostate'' finally reached its exit vector, and made the jump to hyperspace safely, while RS forces covered its exit from the area. (RgF308)

On the other side of that jump, the ship arrived at a meeting, where negotiations between defecting forces aboard the vessel were to take place with a RS representative aboard the Interdictor ''Raging Dragon''. The ''Apostate'' arrived to discover another Strike Cruiser posing as the ''Apostate'', and alerted RS forces to the deception, as the interloping craft was in fact the Strike Cruiser ''Dimoran'', broadcasting a fake transponder signal. The ''Apostate'' then joined with RS forces in attacking the ''Dimoran'', destroying the vessel and securing the area enough for the vessel to begin docking operations with the ''Raging Dragon'', while the Dreadnaught ''[[End of Days]]'' guarded the area. It docked with the ''Raging Dragon'', and its crew commenced negotiations with General [[Sienn Sconn]]. Imperial reinforcements led by the Frigate ''Pestilence'' and backed by the Strike Cruiser ''Banton'' arrived to continue the Imperial attack on the meeting craft, targeting the ''Apostate'' and the ''Raging Dragon''. The Dreadnaught ''[[End of Days]]'' led defence forces against the Imperial interlopers, successfully protecting the vessel until the meeting was concluded, and led RS forces in the destruction of the Imperial vessels while the ''Raging Dragon'' and the ''Apostate'' escaped into hyperspace. The ''Apostate'' was later a part of the interdiction operation led by the Interdictor ''Raging Dragon'' against an Imperial force led by the Strike Cruiser ''Valorum I'' which was attempting to reinforce ''Chasm'' base. The ''Raging Dragon'' engaged its interdiction field and brought the Imperial forces out of hyperspace prematurely near an asteroid field, keeping the Imperial task force secured in the combat zone while the ''Apostate'' led defecting Imperial and RS forces against the ''Valorum I''â€™s force. The Frigate ''Ascension'' flanked the force from the other side. The entire Imperial force was neutralized. (RgF310)

Some time later, the ''Apostate'' reinforced the Interdictor ''Raging Dragon'', which had trapped the Star Destroyer ''Deathbringer'' in its interdiction field as the Star Destroyer made its escape from the Star Destroyer ''Wyvern''â€™s assault on ''Chasm'' base. Imperial and RS forces were pounding the ''Raging Dragon'' and the ''Deathbringer'', respectively, when the vessel arrived. The arrival effectively countered the presence of Imperial reinforcements led by the Dreadnaught ''Serpentine''. The ''Apostate'' took up a flanking position on one side of ''Serpentine'' while the Frigate ''Horizon'' moved to pin the Dreadnaught down on the opposite flank. The ''Serpentine'' was overwhelmed by the ''Horizon'' and the ''Apostate'', while RS forces pounded the Star Destroyer ''Deathbringer'' into submission before overwhelming and destroying it. ==History==
The [[Battle of Blerthmore]] was the most devastating defeat ever suffered by the RS. The fleet was decimated. Still, RS Command decided to try to strike back at the enemy that had struck them this blow. Within a month of the battle, the RS had formed the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] from its remaining ships and dispatched it to the [[Subterrel Sector]] to find the enemy. Then-[[FC]] [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]] had planned to lead this strike force, but was convinced that the RS home systems needed his presence, especially after the devastating battle. After much deliberation, he decided to remain behind in the [[Greeop Sector]] to reassure the worlds in RS space and to try to rebuild the infrastructure of the fleet.

The departure of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] left Dave with very few ships. He had his personal ship, the ''[[Peril]]'', which he made his flagship. Unfortunately, it was the largest vessel left in the entire sector. He reserved for himself the ''[[End of Days]]'', ''[[Apostate]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'', which had all survived the [[Battle of Blerthmore]]. The small flotilla of four ships was christened the Greeop Defense Force, which explained its purpose and goal. Until the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] returns to RS space, the [[Fleet Admiral]] has only the GDF to assist him in calming fearful populations, rebuilding bases and facilities, and protecting RS worlds from attack by the unscrupulous.

The GDF has been involved in several small-scale operations since the departure of the SSF. On 44:3:31, the ''[[Peril]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'' defeated a small pirate force in the [[T'seran system]] of the [[Tarla Sector]]. Several days later on 3:34, the ''[[Halberd]]'' finished construction at the ''[[Eagle's Nest]]'' Shipyard and was pressed into service as the fifth vessel of the GDF. A week later, the Corvette [[Shadowblen (ship)|Shadowblen]] arrived in the [[Greeop system]] and was incorporated into the GDF, further boosting its size.

Unfortunately, on [[44GrS#44:4:23|44:4:23]] the [[Halberd]] was destroyed in a shocking terrorist attack, once again reducing the size of the hard-pressed GDF.

With the out-of-character resignation of Dave from the position of Fleet Commander, it was decided that until the current tour is over; fictionally, he will remain as Fleet Commander. [[Raven]] will continue to serve, fictionally, as [[RSXO]] until such time as the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] returns home. The [[Logistics Office]] feels that this will serve the integrity of the storyline the most; and prevent any 'leaps of logic' from being necessary. Dave has graciously offered to continue writing [[FC]] narratives, so fictionally; nothing has happened even with the shake-up of the RS command structure following his resignation.

Caelum is a world so rich in natural beauty that it is often compared to such amazing worlds as [[Arcadia]], [[Avalon]], and former [[Alderaan]]. It was here that the first Hyperspace Explorers chose colonization. The ruins of their ancient city can still be found on the southern continent, now meshed together with the world's vegetation. The serenity of the landscape, and majesty of the old stone, are said to be so captivating that they have influenced even the coldest of Dark Jedi to stop in awe. The [[Battle of Blerthmore]] of [[44GrS#44:2:27|44:2:27]] devastated the RS fleet and multiple Strike cruisers were literally blown apart in the attack. One of the few silver linings to this disaster was that some pieces of those cruisers were salvageable. Under the careful direction of Logistics Officer [[David Vaughan]], the ''Halberd'' was created from these scraps at the ''[[Eagle's Nest]]'' Shipyard in the month after the battle. It was commissioned and presented to [[FC]] [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]] on [[44GrS#44:3:34|44:3:34]] and subsequently joined the [[Greeop Defense Force|Greeop Defence Force]].

The ''Halberd'''s maiden mission was a simple patrol through the RS territory of the [[Cadrel Expanse]]. In the midst of this mission, on [[44GrS#44:4:23|44:4:23]], the ship first broke apart and then exploded in a disaster that claimed the command staff and nearly the whole crew. Only 124 survived the incident. The terrorist attack was perpetrated by six crewmen from the planet [[Caelum]], who were protesting what they perceived as the encroachment of the RS on their planetary affairs.

The '''FC narratives''' are a series that trace the story of the RS-wide storyline from the perspective of the [[Fleet Commander]] and other personnel on the RS Command Staff. The FC narratives run parallel to the official [[VSG]]/[[RID]] ITOD storylines. Both sets of narratives began more or less with the devastating [[Battle of Blerthmore]]. After the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] left RS space to initiate the [[Subterrel Conflict]], the FC narratives are mainly following the story of the small force left behind to protect RS holdings in the [[Greeop system]], [[Cadrel Expanse]], and [[Binaural Sector]].

Dave was born in 51 BBY ([[16BrS]]), the son of aristocratic parents and a scion of the noble Astoris house of Yaga Minor. He entered the Republic Navy as a fighter pilot shortly before Palpatine's rise to power (ca. 26 BBY). After fighting in the Clone Wars (22-19 BBY), he remained in the service of the Imperial Navy, where he later moved from starfighters to capital ships. He commanded the [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Victory_II-class_Star_Destroyer VSD-II] ''[[Peril]]'' under Grand Admiral Thrawn, operating in the Unknown Regions for several years, until being given a mission so chilling that he renounced Imperial service forever and defected, taking his ship and crew with him (2 ABY). In service to the Rebel Alliance, he was given command of smaller vessels, until the dire need of well-captained ships for the Battle of Endor pushed him into command of a Nebulon B. Frigate (4 ABY). After the Battle of Endor he was given a commission with the newly formed [[Rebel Squadrons]] Battlegroup, which was designed by Admiral Ackbar to operate independently in the region of the Minos Cluster and Cadrel Expanse. 
 His service within the Rebel Squadrons has continued to this day. He was placed in command of [[Crusader Fleet]], making his flagship the CRS ''McGrath'' (ca. 5 ABY). The bulk of Dave's personality can be traced to either his planet of origin and family or his decades of military service, particularly his service to the Empire. The aristocracy of Yaga Minor are a proud group, despite the fact that they all hail from immigrants. One of the more curious attributes of the aristocracy is an avoidance of contractions in speech. Dave, like other nobles from Yaga Minor, considers contractions to be vulgar, and will only be seen speaking them when disoriented or under extreme duress. From his family, the house of Astoris, Dave has inherited a grave respect for the bonds of family in general and for his family specifically. For him, family is just about everything - despite the fact that much of his family pays their allegiance to the Empire.

Dave is generally sombre and restrained. He has been called "straight-laced." Part of this comes from his long experience serving militaries - first the Old Republic, then the Empire, then the Rebellion and New Republic. Dave is the quintessential navy officer, believing in strict discipline, a professional atmosphere, and even pomp and circumstance. He is not known as a harsh disciplinarian, perhaps because his age and gravitas seem to compel respect and obedience without the need for draconian measures. Dave's restrained nature is also due to the extremely high number of deaths that he has either witnessed, caused, or ordered. In fact, he has become somewhat obsessed with death, labeling it the great enemy. Despite this, Dave is also capable of humor on occasion, and may sometimes be caught muttering a witticism or some other dry remark.

== Non-fictional RS service ==

In the RS, Dave has held many positions. He joined in June of 1996, making him among the oldest active members of the club. Originally, as most RS members of the time were, he was known by AOL screenames, his first being RaptorFun and second ReblRaptor. His first squadron was Delta Squadron, where he flew the Mac edition of X-Wing. He worked his way up the ranks until he became [[Crusader Fleet]] CO during early 1997. He served as RS Medals Officer in late 1997/early 1998. From June 1998-July 2000 he was [[Redemption Fleet]] CO, where he was tirelessly active in seeking out new divisions for the RS and pushing older divisions to Fleet status. It was during this time period that Dave was promoted to the rank of [[Fleet Admiral]]. Not content with this service, he aimed at serving the RS as a whole. 
 From August of 2000 to September of 2001, Dave served as [[Fleet Commander]], presiding over several projects, including the creation of the first roster database and the transformation of the RS domain as well as the extremely successful First [[Outer Rim War]]. In June 2002, Dave returned to High Command by once again becoming [[Redemption Fleet]] CO, remaining there until September 2003. Between September 2003 and January 2006, Dave played Star Wars Galaxies, but remained a member of Redemption Fleet and served as Vice-Minister of Justice. In June 2006, Dave accepted additional positions in Aurora Force and the Patriot Battle Fleet. He was also appointed to High Command as an [[Alderman]]. In October 2006, Dave was elected RS [[FC]] for the second time. In the same month he stepped down from his position in the [[Council of Justice]]. He picked up a new position in [[RID]] about this time. In July 2007, after 9 months of service in his second term as [[FC]], Dave resigned that position to allow a new leader to take command of the RS. He currently flies for [[Green Squadron]] in the PBF, plays EaW in [[RID]] and writes in the [[AF-Kids]] storyline. He also remains the primary author of the [[FC narrative|FC narratives]].

'''Castor''' is perhaps most famous of all Former FCs. In his time he was a giant among men, and his quirky and influential personality won him the admiration of all who served with him. He designed the X-Wing Comtacs missions, and even before he entered the RS he was famous for his assistance on various forums to people who played X-Wing. Inside the RS, he quickly lept to command of the Academy during its golden age, and was responsible for turning it into an instrument which could churn out new RS members quickly. His success in the Academy led ultimately to his election as Fleet Commander. In this position he was so popular that when he felt he made a misstep, he needed to bring himself up on charges with the [[Council of Justice |Minister of Justice]]. The office of the MoJ was in fact created by Castor himself, and there was rampant speculation at the time that he brought himself up on these charges merely to establish the authority of the MoJ in its early days. During his tenure as FC, Castor influenced and promoted many members that would later become FCs themselves, including [[Jack Stewart]] and [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]].

After resigning the FC position, Castor remained interested in the RS and served as an Honorary Member of High Command. In addition, he continued as Grey Leader, churning out Grey Squadron's Tour 5, arguably one of the most enjoyable TOD's ever created, which took two years to complete and yielded a remarkable story 600 pages long. Castor currently remains on HHC, serving precariously from a 14k modem connection, and is reported to be working on Grey Tour 6.

The [[Patriot Battle Fleet]] captured it in a daring convoy raid on 44:3:28 and within days the vessel was already in service to the Rebel Squadrons. PBF CO [[Joshua Hawkins]] then made the decision to send the ''Shadowblen'' back to Greeop to join the [[Greeop Defense Force]], perhaps as a gesture of the PBF's desire to be able to join in the defense of the RS home territories. The vessel arrived at [[Blerthmore]] on 44:4:2.

The ''Shadowblen'' is currently an escort ship in the [[Greeop Defense Force]], left behind in the [[Greeop Sector]] and charged to hold RS territories together while the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] wages war abroad.

The '''Eagle's Nest''' is a shipyard and repair facility in the space above the planet [[Blerthmore]] in the [[Greeop system]]. It is the only such facility that the Rebel Squadrons controls. Although originally intended primarily as a repair facility, it is capable of constructing most vessels from the keel up, up to an including the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. The ''Eagle's Nest'' consists of dozens of chambers and compartments linked together. When no ships are docked at it, it resembles an asterisk, with docks sticking out in every direction from a central station module. Some docks end in merely a docking connector while others end with a full drydock carriage capable of cradling a starship while it is being worked on.

In the [[Battle of Blerthmore]], the ''Eagle's Nest'' had a lucky escape. Although the bulk of the defenses of the planet were destroyed, and many ships docked at the ''Eagle's Nest'' itself were destroyed or reduced to molten heaps, the shipyard facility itself survived mostly unscathed. Thanks to this lucky break, the RS was able to repair and retrofit several vessels of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] before that group departed to seek vengeance on the perpetrators of the attack.

The [[Battle of Blerthmore]] was the most devastating defeat ever suffered by the RS. The fleet was decimated. Still, RS Command decided to try to strike back at the enemy that had struck them this blow. Within a month of the battle, the RS had formed the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] from its remaining ships and dispatched it to the [[Subterrel Sector]] to find the enemy. [[FC]] [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]] had planned to lead this strike force, but was convinced that the RS home systems needed his presence, especially after the devastating battle. After much deliberation, he decided to remain behind in the [[Greeop Sector]] to reassure the worlds in RS space and to try to rebuild the infrastructure of the fleet.

The departure of the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] left the [[FC]] with very few ships. He had his personal ship, the ''[[Peril]]'', which he made his flagship. Unfortunately, it was the largest vessel left in the entire sector. The [[FC]] reserved for himself the ''[[End of Days]]'', ''[[Apostate]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'', which had all survived the [[Battle of Blerthmore]]. The small flotilla of four ships was christened the Greeop Defense Force, which explained its purpose and goal. Until the [[Subterrel Strike Force]] returns to RS space, the [[FC]] has only the GDF to assist him in calming fearful populations, rebuilding bases and facilities, and protecting RS worlds from attack by the unscrupulous.

The GDF has been involved in several small-scale operations since the departure of the SSF. On 44:3:31, the ''[[Peril]]'' and ''[[Marauder]]'' defeated a small pirate force in the [[T'seran system]] of the [[Tarla Sector]]. Several days later on 3:34, the ''[[Halberd]]'' finished construction at the ''[[Eagle's Nest]]'' Shipyard and was pressed into service as the fifth vessel of the GDF.

'''Outer Rim War III: The Subterrel Conflict''' (ORW3) is a multi-club, multi-player competition organized by the Rebel Squadrons. It is the latest in a long line of competitions that includes [[Outer Rim War]] (ORW), [[Outer Rim War II]] (ORW2), the [[Minos Conflict]], and [[Celestial Fury]] (CF). Its start date is the weekend February 3rd, 2007. The competition features multiplayer gaming of a variety of types, from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter to Empire at War.

The rules on this page are now mostly definite and may be considered final pending small changes after the practice skirmish.

== The War ==
This is a multiplayer gaming competition involving many SW clubs fighting over territory, in the form of planetary systems, set in the Outer Rim. The War ends when one group has captured all of the systems in the [[Subterrel Sector]].

This ORW, rather than featuring all of the clubs at odds with each other, will use three "factions" of clubs that have formed temporary, uneasy alliances with each other whose enemy are the other two factions. The three factions are "Rebel," who are affiliated with the New Republic; "Imperial," several remnants of Palpatine's Galactic Empire; and "Sith," Force-using followers of the Dark Side who are gradually conquering the galaxy.

The factions are intended to be as balanced as possible. After the War has begun, clubs may join the war at any time, pending a majority vote by the ORW Council, if it is possible to keep factions balanced. Clubs may also switch factions during the War, pending a 2/3 vote by the ORW Council, although this is not recommended except to rectify any major unbalanced factions.

=== Fictional background ===
Twelve systems in the [[Subterrel Sector]] in the Outer Rim have been occupied by the three factions, and events have led to war. Who will emerge the victor of this fight?

The Imperials originally discovered a mysterious secret in one of the systems of the sector. The secret was soon also discovered by the Sith, who began fighting the Imperials for possession of the sector and the secret. A New Republic spy discovered the secret and rushed back to NR space, but was intercepted and destroyed by the Sith. The Imperials, unaware of this, attacked the nearest New Republic installations, unwittingly bringing the NR forces into a three-way war against them and the Sith. The true reason for the immense war brewing in the [[Subterrel Sector]] is known to only a few.

=== Location ===
The [[Subterrel Sector]] is the staging area for ORW3. This region of space is viable for a number of reasons.
* It is beyond the Outer Rim (beyond civilised space), out in Wild Space (mostly uncharted).
* It's nowhere near any major trade routes.
* The galaxy at large don't know or care about the region.
* Due to its lack of importance, there is practically no canon information available, so we cannot be contradicted by canon material (the only major event of significance was that Luke and Leia Skywalker were born in this region, but not even they know that).
* It's neutral ground, where none of the clubs have a foothold.
* It is a fair distance from RS space (and several other clubs), but not prohibitively so (it's halfway between the Rimma Trade Route -- our location -- and the Hydian Way).

=== Possessions ===
* The three factions will begin with four planetary systems each.
* After each week, the faction who scored the most points that week will capture one system from each of the other two factions.
* A faction without any remaining systems may continue to play, but cannot hope to actually win any systems.
* The war is over when one faction has captured all twelve systems.
* The systems will be divided among the faction according to their fraction of total points earned during the competition.
* The determining of exactly which system is captured and occupied each week by which club, under the restrictions above, will be determined by a small number of people, who will announce the result in the ORW NL. This determination only affects the fictional side of things, as all planets will be strategically equal out-of-character.

The Outer Rim War Council is the top authority in ORW3. The Council will consist of one official representative from each club (likely their leader), who will vote for that club on any matter necessary. A small number of additional members from each club may listen to and participate in ORW Council discussions, but each club will have one vote. == Scoring ==
The scoring system of ORW3 will aim to reward participation and not just victory. This system also rewards according to the number of plays involved in a match, so in a 4v4, many more points are awarded than would be in 4 1v1s. The specifics of the system follow:

Eric Reagan was born on the planet Xa Fel, but his mother died in childbirth, so he never really knew her. His family had been corporate slaves for ages, and he and his father were about to be made slaves, so his father took him and fled the planet. They later settled on the planet Corellia, where they buried his mother, and Eric's father joined the New Republic military. His father became an extremely talented pilot and high ranking officer, and was by far one of the best pilots the Republic had ever seen. He could fly anything, and he taught his son everything he knew. His father had served in the New Republic military for 15 years until he was killed in action when his A-Wing was blown up over Endor. Later, his father was buried on Endor. Eric was young when his father died, and Eric swore to avenge his death.

As soon as he was of age to do so, he applied and was accepted to the Academy. Eric excelled at the academy, graduating at the top of his class. He was one of the best cadets that the academy had ever seen, thanks to what his father had taught him, and therefore left a lasting legacy there. After he graduated from the Academy he went to pilot school, where he again graduated at the top of his class, and was issued his first X-Wing. He still has that X-Wing to this day.

After he graduated from pilot school, he just explored space, trying to find himself. When his X-Wing ran out of resources, he was forced to land on the nearest planet, which just happened to be the planet Bethlamore. While there, the humble Jedi of the Great Temple of Adhe Zion offered him a place to stay, and he settled there. He would later be thrown into the mix, as it were, and these people would become, in essence, his family.

Eric has been with the ABG for almost two years now, and has flown on several missions for them. Most recently, he went on a special operation to the planet Tattoine to take care of a slaver there. this operation took 9 months, but he is now back at the temple. He can usually be seen wearing a flight suit, and most of the time it is soiled from mechanical work on his X-Wing. And, he can usually be found in the temple's hangar. He lives on the seventh floor right next to Nicolai Ginovef.

He was formerly the Executive Officer of the ABG's Allegiance Academy, but gave up his position when he left for the deserts of Tattoine. He also serves in the Patriot Battle Fleet. Before he left for the desert, he was PBF's Executive Officer, and now holds the position of Second Officer.

Proposal 1, I have an issue with. I do not want my fleet academy under the control/observation of the RSTO. I've appointed people who work great with the cadets. Should one of them not wish to do it anymore, I want to be able to go ahead and replace them immediately. I dont' think the RSTO fits anywhere in that equation.

:: I don't mind if the RSTO checks in to see how things are running, mayber offer some tips, but if it's in the fleet, it's the fleets responsability. Should one of my instructors not work out, I'll ask them to adjust their teaching methods or replace them. Fleet-bound academies shouldn't be under direct control of the RSTO. If that was the case might as well bring back Proposal 2 all over again. It's one thing if a cadet or someone goes to the RSTO and inquires what to do, or they haven't recieved word from my folks yet. Then I can see intervention, but I can't see anything more than that from the RSTO. The RSTO, IMHO, should be in control of the BP, Any post grad activities (Ie: Mission building, website design tips, etc).

Proposal 3 sounds very nice, and if done right could work very well, but you are correct PBF and other flight sims would get hurt because very few people would sign up for them. we basically have 3 areas for games, Flight Sims, First person games, and EaW (Erm strategy). Having a centralized academy in this case wouldn't be worth while. If we do then the flight sims go down the tank because of the newer games out.

=== Proposal 1 (BP-centric) ===
* Make Beginner's Path the requirement for the first 2 promotions, up to 2Lt.
* Cadets can still play any game and fly in any fleet, earn their MCw/H medals, etc., but can't be promoted anywhere until they have gotten to 2Lt in the Path.
* Make certain things required to be promoted in the Path, such as taking an entry academy course (heh..not multiple choice), reading the bylaws, and operations manual.
* The Training Office handles Beginner's Path, oversees the fleets' TOs to make sure they all have reasonable requirements and are performing well -- but fleets are still in control of their academies, they are just advised by the RS TO -- and is available for any RS-wide questions.
==== Debate ====
* This removes the cool instant promotion to 2Lt on getting Master Cadet w/Honors, which some people might like to keep. Although, it's fairly easy to get to 2Lt on the Beginner's Path-- it can be done under an hour right now.
* This is the way a lot of other clubs do it -- to get your first rank you have to take a "core academy test", or something like that.
* Maybe we could say that you need to do BP to get to LJG only, and 2Lt is up to the fleet or more BP, and past that it's up to the fleet. That might be a better way.

* Reinstate the Academy fleet, just as it was.
* Bring back groups like Grey-Alpha that have a few people who are expert in one or more particular games, and will fly missions and participate along with the cadets.
* Put control over who runs the academies to the Academy CO, instead of the individual fleets' COs.
==== Debate ====
* This proposal gives back the idea of "your first home in the RS", but also doesn't let you join a fleet and start participating with it right away. That may be somewhat realistic in IC terms, but it would seem that it would be good to let people start participating in the regular way as soon as they want to.
* Don't forget the problem where a specific undergrad isn't really doing its job, and the Fleet CO has no way of changing the command staff or just approving cadets into the fleet himself or herself. It's a loss of control for the Fleet CO, and that might be aggravating -- that was one of the reasons for the disbanding of the Academy fleet in the first place.

=== Proposal 3 (Primary instructors) ===
* Ask new members to select a primary genre of games to sign up on, so that they only join one fleet at the beginning, and have less to deal with if they would have otherwise signed up with a lot of games.
* Have the Training Office maintain a staff of instructors who each specialize in a game, or preferably a genre, and one of these is automatically assigned to each new member by the DB based on the genre the cadet selected.
* This instructor will be the cadet's go-to person, and needs to understand everything about Beginner's Path, as well as the requirements of the game(s) the cadet has selected for that genre.
* The cadets would be able to select one of the initial following genres:
** Newer flight sims (XvT, XWA)
** Older flight sims (XW, TIE)
** MMORPG (SWG)
** Newer FPS (RC, BF2, BF)
** Older FPS (JA, JO, JK)
** Strategy (EaW)
** Writing (AF)
** Roleplaying (ABG)
* The cadet will immediately enter into the unit they selected upon joining.
==== Debate ====
* This approach depends heavily on having good instructors, and a good TO to make sure everything is maintained properly.
* The disadvantage here is that units like PBF probably wouldn't see a lot of influx, as people don't seem likely to choose "older flight sims" over "newer flight sims", for instance.
* This would almost completely cut down on confusion for people who normally sign up for a lot of games.
* This places a strict limit on the number of things someone can do right when they enter the RS, which might lose us some potentially active members.
* The chief difference with "primary instructors" is that the TO maintains the list of instructors, rather than each fleet. So this is a little bit like an Academy fleet, but not quite. And instructors can be asked to handle many games, if they say they can. An alternative to this proposal is to have each fleet provide a list of its instructors, and automatically assign one of them, except that it might be best for TOs to assign the instructor that they think is best.

Subject: Kaitlyn Marie Anderson

Subject born in Lorrd City on 22:1:12 to parents Laura and David. She was flagged early by Special Operations due to repeated school experiments involving explosives; wherein more common materials and equipments were used to create class B and A devices. Records show thirty two citations for illegal explosives use during her senior year; most waived due to the â€˜educationalâ€™ nature of the violations. Enlisted into the New Republic Academy when eligible, after being offered a â€˜clean slateâ€™ for service within Spec Ops. During her freshman year, she caused a level three security breach when she used a few power packs and wire to make an explosive device; which she then promptly used to demonstrate field-improvisation. After causing one point two million credits in damage, she was nearly evicted from the academy until a recruiter for Task Force Republic Shield caught wind of the event. Finding her actions, quote: â€˜uniqueâ€™, she was enlisted into Republic Shield for service in their special operations division.

Subject went through two years of training on Blerthmore, where her explosives testing could be done on the desolate surface of the planet; rather than a classroom. She served onboard the Redemption for two tours before being reassigned elsewhere; to become a part of an infiltration company that tragically lost their demolitions officer when his pack was sabotaged. In the ensuing months, she has distinguished herself with use of high explosive and improvised weaponry in order to complete her missions. She has been decorated, and reprimanded on several occasions for her use of such devices in sometimes haphazard situations.
