One of the more isolated worlds of the Kartuiin Sector, Tlir was also one of the earliest settled worlds in the region. It is ruled as a traditional monarchy by the Delacroix family. The current leader is the marginally accommodating Ignatius Delacroix, last surviving son of the line, and his seat of power is in the capital city of Myadar.
Myadar stands on a plateau within the Galerian mountain range. It is the largest and oldest city on Tlir. Though there are no Imperial forces stationed in the city, there is a large base in the valley below Myadar. East of the mountains is the city of Escariot, and southwest of the massive range that runs north-south across Tlir’s main continent is the city of Rinera. Coastal cities include Werit, Salaris, and Beradorn. Anerion, Quinteth, and Elidal lie on an adjacent, smaller continent, and another continent holds the larger cities of Yartha and Natch.
Tlir has been held by the Empire since the coming of Vertil Dargan to the Kartuiin Sector. He brought the local population into line and stationed troops there, to keep an eye on mining interests out of Yartha and Natch. The contingent south of Myadar is designed to keep the Delacroix and their Loyalists from trying anything rash.

One of his early assignments away from Xenen was at Research and Development on Coruscant, where he spent a year before being reassigned to Xenen. Those who knew him marked a change in the brilliant young engineer upon his return to Xenen. He had become withdrawn and sullen, though he would rarely talk about why.
Almost immediately upon his return to Xenen, Davil was requested as chief engineer aboard the Legacy, commanded by Cay Bel Iblis. He accepted the assignment and has by all accounts kept the aging ship operating.

Indy:

Formerly among the most favored sons and daughters of Corellia is the Taliesin bloodline. Prominent since shortly after the Sith Wars, the Taliesin family is a bloodline of Jedi whose roots run deep in the Corellian system. Members of the line have traditionally been able to trace their line back at least fifty generations back from themselves – indeed, they are expected to be able to do so. The Taliesin line epitomized the Corellian dedication to family.

Jedi of the Taliesin line also have a strong sense of justice, however, their beliefs do not always fall squarely into the bounds of the Jedi Code as set down by the Council at Coruscant. In this way, they also epitomize the free-spirited and stubborn nature of Corellians. They were still, however, the primary law enforcers of the Corellian Sector, the roving rangers of justice, along with other bloodlines, such as the Bridgers and later, the Rendars. With the addition of the Halcyon line, the four families create the Quartet – the four powerful Jedi families that dominated the culture and tradition of Corellian Jedi.

A major weakness of the Taliesin line is in healing – many Jedi of the line are unable to heal others at all, fewer are unable heal even themselves. Those who do possess the ability to heal find it more draining than a Jedi of another line would. Jedi of the Taliesin line, however, make up for this by being possessed of abilities that enable them to not be hit. The line has an uncanny knack for precognition, for seeing what will happen only split seconds before it happens. This ability has enabled many a Taliesin Jedi to disarm an opponent before they have the ability to injure or kill someone else.

An additional trait among the Taliesins is a sense of selflessness – their strong sense of justice is mirrored in their strong beliefs of what should be. They are not afraid to make the final sacrifice if they feel it is the only way. In the end, this was the undoing of the Taliesin line, when the last remaining son of the line, Ulic Taliesin, died in combat near the end of the Clone Wars. With this death and the death of Neeja Halcyon, the Quartet collapsed, leaving the two remaining prominent families, the Bridgers and the Rendars, with the aid of the Corellian Security Force, the only defenders of the Corellian system.

Prior to the death of the line, the Taliesins had long been a powerful family among the Jedi of the galaxy, not just of the Corellian Sector. While their often unconventional ideas caused them to lock horns with many of the conservative members of the Jedi Council, they were still a well-respected part of the Jedi Order. Often, the Taliesins would volunteer for some of the most dangerous missions available, simply to prevent other Jedi from walking into dangerous situations. A prime example of this is the case of Andrew Taliesin, who was lost during one such mission. Taliesin, a young Jedi Knight well on his way to becoming a Jedi Master, volunteered to take on a vital mission assigned by then-head of the Jedi Council, Jedi Master Colin Rendar of Coruscant. No one knows the true nature of the assignment Andrew Taliesin undertook, only that it was completed. After the completion of this mission, he was never heard from again. It is almost certain that he died returning to Coruscant, although the exact details of this event are unknown.

The Taliesins, like the other families of the Quartet, did not often marry within the Quartet, usually taking their spouses from outside the four families. It was a hallmark of every one of these families, however, that they married for love and no other reason. None were deeply involved in politics, nor did any have a reason to be. Sometimes, however, marriages within the Quartet did happen, and when they did, they were causes for celebration as they always strengthened the lines.

The Sinath were originally created by Alec Jaggers and played a major role in various Aurora Force storylines. In Distant Past, their predecessors were the Defender Bladesmen, of which several characters in the storyline were a part.

The following information was put together by Alec Jaggers for the Aurora Force Encyclopedia.

History of the Sinath
Few people from the Lower Galaxy (Sinath term for the major portion of the galaxy, consists of all territories save Wild Space.) have had contact with the independent group known as the Sinath Swordmasters. Those few who have had dealings with the Sinath never learn the true extent of this militaristic society or its goals.

The first Sinath Swordmasters were culled from the ranks of a Jedi Defender task forces’ Bladesmen some twenty-five hundred years before the Galactic Civil War. These Defenders, led by Drave Haet, defected from the Defenders (ancient military forces devoted to serving the Jedi Order and the New Republic). They took their Jedi-taught swordsmanship and followed their Prophecy, which eventually led them into the depths of the unknown Wild Space. The Bladesmen declared themselves to be Sinath (Siths-Bane) and dedicated themselves to the eternal defense of the Galaxy.

Over the next two thousand and five hundred years, the Sinath tamed vast regions of Wild Space, bringing under the control of their ever-expanding power. The Sinath easily seized control of the independent colonies in the region, using them as a base to build upon. As their empire grew, the Sinath began to transform themselves from a military force into a society. The society that emerged was one that reflected the roots of their past and their ultimate purpose. In Sinathian society, every man is a warrior- dedicated to his people. Government and command of the military power of the Sinath are both controlled by the Council of Tens, which is composed of the uber-elites of the Sinath Swordmaster ranks.

At the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Sinath controlled vast amounts of territory- equal to one-fourth of the entire Empire, and their armed forces actually exceeded those of both sides of the Civil War. The Sinath, however, took no sides in the war. They remained in their Wild Space empire, an unknown to the rest of the Galaxy, and maintained their watch on the borders.

The Sinath Prophecy
The whole purpose of the Sinath lies in their sacred Prophecy. Granted to Drave Haet by mysterious extra-galactic alien Jedi, the Prophecy details an invasion by dark forces intent on shattering the Galaxy. The Sinath believe that they have been erected as the only defense against ‘The Shadow’, and that they must protect the rest of the Galaxy at the cost of their own freedom.

The other main feature of the Prophecy is the promise of salvation through a powerful messiah. The Prophecy names this savior the Griffon, and promises that he will lead the Sinath against the Shadow, defeating the menace but at terrible cost. The Griffon is spoken of as both savior and destroyer of the Sinath, a dark hero with death for foes and allies alike in his hands. Despite the dire overtones of this prophesied Griffon, the Sinath have devoted themselves wholeheartedly to him- should he ever reveal himself.

Sinath Training
The Sinath are revered masters of swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat. They are lethal with any weapon and their reflexes and physical abilities far exceed the norm for whatever species they come from. Their chief weapon is the indestructible longsword constructed of sinathian swordsteel.

Most of the training Sinath Swordmasters receive is a closely guarded secret, but it has been revealed that they practice a hierarchy of skill. Every Sinath begins at the First Level and receive basic combat training. By defeating two opponents of the First Level, the trainee advances to the Second Level where he receives a higher level of training from more advanced masters. To progress to the Third Level, the Sinath must vanquish three opponents of the Second Level. Progression through the ranks of the Sinath continues in this way- always defeating a number of opponents equal to the rank he wishes to achieve, the opponents always come from his current level. Thus, the Tenth Level Masters (who control Sinathian society)have each defeated ten warriors from the Ninth Level each of whom has defeated nine warriors of the Eight Level etc, etc

Trosa Aldair was born sixteen years before the Battle of Yavin, at the height of the Emperor's Jedi Purge. His father Karmel, had had been a Jedi apprentice in the years leaqding up to the Great Clone War. Just before the War, however, Karmel was ejected from the order after taking the blame for the death of his Master, Otan. Otan was killed when he and Karmel were ambushed by Muarauders, a gang of feral humans in Coruscant's underlevles who used the dark side to dominate other ferals. It was Karmel's negligence, the order decided, which had attracted the Mauruaders to the two Jedi.

Karmel was banished from the Temple and became a pilot for Jorj Car'das' smuggling group. There he met Liane Horuk, another pilot with latent Force ability who had been discovered by the Jedi too late for training. They married and conceived a child.

This was at the height of the Jedi Purge. For Trosa's safety, his father planned a daring run to secretly take the infant Trosa to the Force-empty world of Myrkr. The Jedi Council, who still monitored Karmel, heard of his plan and hired him to take six more infants. Trosa's mother, Liane Horuk, volunteered to fly the mission. The ship was betrayed to the Empire, and the Jedi smugglers barely eluded pursuit in the forest; out of all the children only Trosa made it to safety. His mother raised him, but died when he was ten; after that, Trosa lived on the street and worked at a landspeeder shop until he was old enough to leave the planet.

When the smuggler Talon Karrde took control of Car'das's group, he established his central base on Myrkr. Karrde, with his information sources, knew of the botched Myrkr Run, and knew that a Master named Aldair had been behind the operation. He'd known Liane Horuk personally. Trosa joined Karrde's group at age 17. Karrde suspected something from Trosa's name and let him begin training as a pilot. On his first orbital flight, Trosa left Myrkr's Force-null field and discovered his connection to the Force, confirming Karrde's supicions that he was one of the Jedi children.

Knowing that a fully trained Jedi would be an invaluable resource for his organization, Karrde tracked down Andur Starkiller, a Jedi Master who had survived the Purge himself by severing his link to the Force. The Master was still alive on Kuat. Karrde sent Trosa to train with him. As he trained, Trosa continued working for the organization as an information gatherer and a shadow liasion to Kuat's government.

When Trosa completed his Jedi training, Karrde reassigned him to his personal freighter, the Wild Karrde, and utilized his ability to sense emotions during negotiations and interrogations. The presence of a Jedi in full robes was also an effective intimidation tool. Uncomfortable with this role, Trosa decided to leave Karrde's service after six months aboard the Wild Karrde, and searched for another way to use his powers.

With the Emperor dead, Trosa decided that the Empire was the best choice. They were much better than the New Republic at providing order and stability; and perhaps, as a Jedi, he could use his skills to influence them to a wiser path. Using skills he'd learned in Karrde's employ, he sliced into Imperial records, rewrote his personal history, and successfully applied to the Imperial Academy on Carida.

Aldair's Jedi training had been much more rigorous than Imperial basic training; but Trosa's real challenges were in the classroom, against the Imperial propaganda machine. Some of the points, like the Tarkin Doctrine of fear of force, bothered him; but he didn't know much better than to accept other beliefs, like human superiority over aliens. That did seem to be the case; hadn't all the famous Jedi been humans?

After his commissioning as a Lieutenant, Trosa was accepted into the legendary 181st Imperial Battle group. He rose through the Starfighter Corps' ranks quickly, and picked up several medals in his first few missions. Though he didn't know it, his service to the Empire was taking him dangerously close to the dark side.

He first began to realize his peril after a mission to Penadon, when he willingly followed orders to strafe a crowd at a peaceful protest. Fifteen people were killed by the squadron, and those deaths bothered his conscience. Cold-blooded murder wasn't the same as killing an enemy in battle.

Several months later Trosa left the 181st and took command of Viper Squadron. The XO of the squadron, Nelora Cardain, was a double agent for New Republic Intelligence. She convinced Trosa to defect, playing on his growing ambivalence about the Empire. When Viper's next mission came along, Trosa and Nelora engaged rigged hyperdrives for their TIE Interceptors and left Imperial service forever.

Joining the Republic, Trosa was sent to the Outer Rim, to a fleet known as Aurora Force. His first mission after graduating from the Academy was a month-long, one-man Intelligence infiltration aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Aggressor, where he posed as an Imperial starfighter pilot. It was a chance for him to overcome his last doubts about defecting, seeing his old environment with fresh eyes. On that mission, Trosa managed to recover a hundred pages of vital Imperial Intelligence data. After returning to the AF, he fought in a conflict over the world of Grassus, where a fellow AF member named Tech Krill was captured. Later, Trosa and several others from his wing helped rescue Lieutenant Krill from a gigantic Dark-sider fortress-ship.

After the Krill Rescue Trosa was promoted to First Lieutenant, and he and the others of his wing rejoined the AF in the Kartuiin Sector for a campaign to liberate that sector. Their first mission: overthrowing the Imperial rule on the strategic world of Xenen. After Xenen was liberated, they moved their base to that world, and Trosa was promoted to Major and placed in command of the newly organized Redstar Squad.

A year later, during a mission to the Conceli system, Trosa was captured by the Empire and placed in a prison on Conceli VIII. He was tortured, and nearly killed, by the prison's sadistic administrator, Halo. When Conceli VIII fell to the Republic, he and two other AF prisoners were rescued by New Republic commandoes form Keena Naduma's Tigress Squadron.

After recovering from his imprisonment, Trosa went on LOA from the AF and traveled to Wild Space. He trained there for a short time with the Sinath, a group of swordsmen dedicated to fighting the dark side. While there, he discovered a bloodline of Sinath Aldairs related to his family. One of them, Fagan Aldair, died in battle and placed his newborn daughter, Kiara, in Trosa's care.

Trosa continues to serve the New Republic, and as a Jedi grows continually in the Force. He is learning more every day about the masters he was truly born to serve--the Jedi ideals of peace and justice.

Basic information
Except for the command staff, all of the team members are noncoms and enlisted. Each of the Tigresses were handpicked by Keena and her XO from all branches of the the Republic Military for their exceptional strategical ability, leadership ability, or tactical skills.
Keena herself was first given command of Tigress by Admiral Kahn Tallum of the now-defunct Sun Tzu Corps. She'd entered military service at the diplomatic rank of captain. In training, she displayed a stellar natural talent for strategical thinking. This was enough for him to put her in command of the first Tzu Corps squadron, Tigress. After The STC was disbanded, Tigress stayed together, based in the city of Novis on the planet Xenen. They spend most of their time on black ops missions in the Kartuiin Sector. While they're not technically part of the Aurora the Aurora Force, whose base is in the nearby city of Quis, the two units cross paths frequently.

The Tigress XO, Tanya Esketos, leads the Tigress fighter contingent; she was at the top of the list on every Academy strategy competition she participated in, and was also awarded the Ackbar Cross for leading her fighter squadron in the singlehanded destruction of an Interdictor cruiser that trapped them in deep space.

Tigress is equipped with four Chariot light assault vehicles, twelve Y-wing fighters, a Sentinel-class landing craft called the *Thorongil,* and a Nebulon-B Friagte, the *Pride,* which serves a their command ship. When the squadron is at full strength, they have five seperate teams of at least ten members each. While all the Tigresses are trained to carry lut a number of missions, each team has a partiuclar area of specialization.

A Team, led by Captain Sashyasha, is the Assault branch of Tigress. Sashyasha is an ex-slave who escaped her former life as a chattel to Moff Disra to join the Rebels. Her team spends most of its time as literal "groundpounders"--Tigress' tank/artillery group. Keena Naduma is a member of this team.

B Team flies as Tigress' Y-Wing squadron when the situation calls for it; but since most of the squadron's missions are ground-only, they pay their dues in planetary/shipboard work. B leader Marck Esketos is Tanya's brother; both are expert pilots.

C Team specializes in infiltration--entering an enemy installaton undetected to strike sugically at a secure target, then getting out again. Len Parakan of C Team served in Cold Group, an elite unit of the Devaronian Liberation Army, during the ill-fated Rebellion on Devaron. Tanya Esketos is a member of this team when she's on the ground.

D Team is a crack demolitions and bomb-disarmament team led by Teren Madred, an ex-Imperial who once served with Warlord Zsinj's Raptors. His more-or-less harmless fascination with explosives earned him the nickname "Boom" in the Raptors.

E Team is a tracking/reconnaissance unit. The leader, "Albie" Montross of the wigned Vor species, is specially equipped for such a job.

From Indy:
Aurora Force uses the Topica list system because it has proven to be significantly more reliable than Yahoo!Groups for our writing and does not carry the same kind of ToS that Yahoo! does for its lists.

The list most important to anyone in Aurora Force is the main list. The wing lists are not used as commonly as they once were. The strongest of the side storyline lists is Distant Past, which deals with a Star Wars universe set 2500 years before Aurora Force's main storyline.

As of late June 2006, the Aurora Force Second Generation (AKA "AF Kids") storyline was reopened, set 15 years after the current AF storyline (5.75 years after Endor, or between the Thrawn Trilogy and Dark Empire), which lands it just before the Vong Invasion detailed in New Jedi Order. The storyline is open to all comers.
There are things on that list that don't necessarily apply across the board to all fleets -- I don't see a reason for PBF folks to have XFire, either, so it's not just me.

Fiction writing in the Rebel Squadrons is done through the Aurora Force, which uses the Topica mailing lists. It's a common misconception that we use our forums for our writing -- we most certainly do not.

Through our run-on storyline (which has been extant for several years, with new people adding and old people leaving throughout that period), we have developed a tale that is actually quite long. One major storyline alone ended up reaching more than three hundred pages. Most story arcs are not quite that expansive.

Having a guide for Star Wars fiction writing is a little odd, but here is some advice from the sage Kaz:

Don't be a douchebag, you don't have superpowers.

You are not the world's most renowned Jedi, you are not an unstoppable pilot or commando.

Here's a little more from Indy:

You control only your character, no one else's. If you're not sure what another character
would say in a given situation, it might be a good idea to contact the person who plays said
other character and talk out the situation you're trying to write.

Paragraphs, punctuation, and other grammatical things are your friends. Do not disrespect
them...or us. Spelling does matter most of the time.

Write your posts in Word, Wordpad, Notepad -- some kind of word processing system -- before
you try to send them out. This prevents you from losing an entire post due to e-mail errors,
ect. It took the XO a couple of years to learn this lesson, and he is much happier for having
learned, as are we all.
