'''Honorary High Command (HHC)''' was a group of people that advise [[High Command]] by sitting on the official [[egroup]] and giving their opinion when they think it is necessary.

[[Kaz Falcion]] removed HHC in 2008. Shortly after becoming [[RSFC]], [[Sienn Sconn]] reinstated four members of HHC on January 22, 2009, returning to their roles as an advisory committee. At some point, HHC was disbanded and does not currently exist.

== History ==
Honorary High Command had a long tradition within RS leadership. The concept originally arose as a means of providing High Command with the insight and opinions of experienced officers who had retired from more active leadership. Originally, and up to 1998 or so, High Command as a group consisted only of the Fleet Commander and the Fleet CO's. The first addition to this list was the Fleet XOs, reasonably added so that they could provide input, opinions, and votes whenever their CO was not present. By 1998, it was felt that certain long-standing Fleet COs or Fleet Commanders should be allowed to remain on the HC discussion list after their retirement, so that the benefit of their experience and wisdom would not be neglected. These members were known as Honorary High Command members. More recently, the term has become collective (Honorary High Command), signifying the body of membership in High Command that is not there because they vote (Fleet COs) or because they lead (FC/XO) or because they back-up a voter (Fleet XOs). The Honorary High Command provide experience and knowledge and are sometimes able to provide useful insights to the voting body of HC.

==Role==
The Aldermen of [[High Command]] do not represent a fleet, but are rather supposed to think in terms of the welfare of the RS as a whole. They contribute to discussions on HC, make proposals designed to streamline the operations of the RS and improve it as a club in general, and vote on all matters that come up on the council.

==History==
Ever since former-[[FC]] [[Super]] created [[High Command]] in 1996, the Voting Members of the council were always and only the [[CO]]'s of the fleets. In August 2006, [[FC]] [[Licah Fox]] proposed the creation of three Aldermen, who would bring RS-wide perspective to HC and vote on the council even though they were not [[CO]] of a fleet. HC accepted the proposal, and the Alderman system was born. The first three Aldermen selected were [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]], [[Cody Qel-Droma]], and [[Sienn Sconn]].

Fleet Admiral '''Licah Fox''' currently serves as the [[Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander]], the leader of the Rebel Squadrons. In the past, he served in a variety of roles in the Rebel Squadrons, all the way up through [[Fleet Commander]] in 2006. == Biography ==

=== Early Life on Valruudd ===
At a very young age, Licah Fox already had a penchant for hacking authorities' computers. At the age of eight, he managed to override the boot process of all of his school's computers with an infinite loop of the [[Valruudd]] national anthem. His flair for the theatrical showed itself at the moment when he walked into the administration's office just after he rebooted every computer. Nearly kicked out of school, he only received reinstatement after testaments on his behalf from his parents and a local bartender named [[Snappleguy]] who served him Snapples several days a week.

As a teenager, Licah explored the distant recesses of the [[HoloNet]] in an attempt to learn more about the universe. Deep into a message board devoted to starfighter combat tips, he came across an advertisement by [[Juho Taskinen]] for the [[Rebel Squadrons]]. Though in admiration of the autonomous frontier style of the RS, and the name itself (Licah considered himself anti-authoritarian in many ways), he gave it little further thought until he happened to run into [[Snappleguy]] at a local bar a couple of years later. He hadn't seen Snap for almost four years, and asked him where he'd gone. To Licah's surprise, Snap had spent his time commanding a squadron and even a wing of the Rebel Squadrons. Licah always remembered Snap's words afterwards: "It'd suit you, Licah. That little stunt you pulled at school a long time ago? They'd recognize your talent and give you important work to do." Along with Snap's stories of the flying ability of his squadmates, Licah suddenly felt a strong urge to get off his planet for the first time and join the Rebel Squadrons.

=== First Assignment: FireClaw Squadron ===
Upon arrival at the [[Academy]], Licah received an assignment to share a bunk bed with [[Dev Azzameen]], a fateful pairing of pilots that would continue for many years and induce terror into enemies' hearts. After they both completed their training with distinction, they received a transfer to [[FireClaw Squadron]] under the command of [[Menshk Vrei'Sik]]. After getting used to the pace of the [[Patriot Battle Fleet]], Licah and Dev soon put FireClaw on the map. When Menshk received a promotion to Wing CO, Licah took over command of FireClaw and turned it into the cream of the crop in the PBF. For an entire year, FireClaw pilots continually destroyed more Imperial ships than those of any other squadron, and led all twelve squadrons on the leaderboard. Licah convinced [[Snappleguy]] and [[Nefo T'chir]] to rejoin squadron stalwarts such as [[Jairo Pantoja]] and [[Jack "Blazer" Barnes]], amongst others. Even [[Kirghy Lommax]] flew with the squadron at its height. Knowledge of FireClaw's fabled history, including stints as CO by [[Jack Stewart]] and [[Mike "MacMan" McEwen]], kept Licah motivated to make FireClaw the very best of the Rebel Squadrons.

=== Special Operations: Ace Pilot ===
As Licah's time in service grew, he received many requests from command to assist with special operations elsewhere on the frontier. Licah eventually made the decision to leave his full-time position in FireClaw and fly with [[Skull Squadron]], [[Jedi Squadron]], [[Red Dragon Squadron]], [[Stinger Squadron]], and [[Phantom Squadron]], among many others. He developed a reputation as one of the top five pilots in the Rebel Squadrons, able to complete any mission which had a remote probability of success. In one particularly [http://missions.rebelsquadrons.org/XW/Mission/768 famous mission], Licah allowed the Empire to disable him and begin boarding his ship before he secretly repaired it, powered up, and destroyed the whole strike force arrayed against him. Along with a few other pilots, he flew most of the RS's reconnaissance missions, as the elite group always ended up taking down a whole host of enemy fighters while collecting data on capital ship movements.

=== Hacking into Command ===
After almost two years of service, Licah had grown dissatisfied with always taking orders from the top brass, even when the leadership seemed unable to divine the necessary actions that seemed obvious to him. He used his computer expertise already displayed on Valruudd to gradually hack into the RS's mainframe, and eventually gained access to the very core of the database, including all internal messages beyond the official communiques, and the ability to mimic the identity of any officer. He kept his abilities under wraps until a particularly frustrating moment, when due to his access, he saw that the [[RSXO]] had falsified documents relating to his performance in previous missions. Immediately filing a grievance about it without any thought of consequences, but only out of a sense of righteousness, the top command staff quickly discovered Licah's illicit activities and not only dismissed his case against the RSXO, but FC [[Rahj Tharen]] very nearly expelled him from the RS with a dishonorable discharge. Only the private appeal of [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]], who saw Licah's potential, kept his career alive. Rahj, with misgivings, decided to take Dave's advice, and appointed Licah as provisional RS [[Internet Officer]], which had largely lain vacant since the departure of [[Shikkie Kaaran]] many years earlier. The special skillset required for the job, along with its high-pressure nature, had meant the total absence of anyone qualified and willing to fill the position properly. Embracing his new set of tasks, Licah set about updating the whole communications network of the Rebel Squadrons, a task which would take him many years.

=== Tactical Developments ===
The ascent to the Executive Staff proved pivotal in Licah's career. Though technically confined to undertaking others' tasks, he soon tackled fundamental structural issues in the whole fleet, and suggested small and large solutions that made the top brass take notice. His experience in solving problems as a pilot transferred well to a broader picture of the whole war front. Licah began to receive appointments to lead major strike forces and soon found himself in charge of [[Retribution Fleet]]. At this point, a peculiar flaw in Licah's character first revealed itself fully. While extremely enthusiastic and hard-working, he could only remain in command of a particular operation so long before detrimental health effects overtook him due to failing to address basic needs. So vigorously did he approach every new task that the requirements of a constant maintenance of command over time eluded him, and indeed almost jeopardized the very operations he had undertaken. He led R2F to several victories, but then abruptly resigned and returned to working on the HoloNet and flying with various squadrons, where he felt more comfortable due to a much smaller public profile.

=== Ascent to Fleet Commander ===
The call to command followed Licah relentlessly, despite his attempts to remain a regular officer. Several more times he received requests from the RSFC to lead major units, including [[Patriot Battle Fleet]], [[Renegade Fleet]], and [[Talon Wing]] in the [[Intrepid Battle Group]]. He served all of these units well, but gave up command of each after a relatively short time due to the inevitable situation already outlined. Finally, FC [[Gavin Cantorph Kravis]] asked Licah to serve as [[Chief of Staff]], third-in-command of the entire Rebel Squadrons, which gave him a taste of the incredible demands and boundless possibilities offered by service in the top echelons. He performed his duties in an exemplary manner and with much aplomb, but after several months, including a stint as acting [[RSXO]], reluctantly stepped aside, sensing an impending health crash, which had grown worse each time he took a high responsibility.

Two years passed, during which time Licah accomplished an incredible amount in rewriting the entire Rebel Squadrons HoloNet, and enjoyed a golden age of successful RS missions. But stirrings had arisen from the fleet, making their way to High Command, of dissatisfaction with Gavin's replacement as FC. Licah found himself taking on more and more work behind the scenes, quietly putting out logistical and tactical fires as top brass established a pattern of assuming the status quo would work, and ignoring new threats. Matters reached a head when HC decided to remove the leader of the Rebel Squadrons in a rare vote of no confidence, and the fleet found itself in immediate and dire need of active leadership. Knowing that he had the knowledge and ability to lead the RS effectively, and suppressing his instinct that he would lose all ability to take care of himself in that role, Licah accepted the nomination and HC elected him as the next Fleet Commander.

=== The Fateful FCship ===
Finally able to implement many of the ideas he had had for so long, Licah went into overdrive. The FC position consumed him: he spent as many as twenty hours each day working to create new possibilities for the officers and refine the current fleet operations. He laid out the groundwork for [[Outer Rim War III]], studied the intimate details of every single officer's tasks, and filled positions that had lain vacant for seemingly forever. He personally visited the main officers' mess hall every day to make sure he heard everyone's concerns regularly. During one of these visits, an encounter happened that made a permanent impression on him. He broke up a fairly nasty verbal fight between two high-ranking officers, instigated by MGN [[Randy Starkiller]], whom he had considered a friend. Randy followed Licah out of the mess hall and gave him every piece of his mind. In particular, he accused Licah of selling out and turning into an oppressive authority figure. While this accusation seemed unjust to Licah, nonetheless it struck him with great force: in the eyes of this officer (and possibly many more), he had turned into the very entity that he had opposed so deeply most of his life. In summary, this simple and seemingly trivial argument with Randy broke Licah's motivation to provide the central authority of the Rebel Squadrons. Perhaps it could have happened at any point with anyone else, who can say? He continued to serve in his position as best he could, but grew somber and morose, and all of the command staff began to remark on his new reluctance to provide direction and make decisions. Eventually, one of the few officers who could match Licah's energy, and a close personal friend, FA [[Michael Raven]] broached the topic of Licah starting to fail at his position. Immediately chagrined by his recent performance and confronting the situation, Licah abruptly sent his resignation to the entire fleet, shocking the command staff and forcing [[Indiana Bridger]] to take command of the fleet on short notice.

=== Further Endeavors ===
FA [[Dave Trebonious-Astoris]], having studied Licah's career (and indeed having launched it in a certain way), had anticipated this eventuality better than anyone. Licah had accomplished a great deal in his short tenure, including the institution of [[Aldermen]] onto High Command, representing general officers' interests for the first time. As one of the first Aldermen, Dave knew in detail all of the current RS operations, and HC elected him as FC following Licah's departure. He continued the work Licah had started, and brought the RS to a level of coordinated operations that still exceeds any other period of fleet history, in many ways. After taking a long leave of absence and spending time with his family on Valruudd, Licah quietly returned to active service and resumed his work with the HoloNet and flying occasional missions. Indeed, through his work behind the scenes, many projects came to light during this time, including [[Beginner's Path]], a full-scale training program for all new recruits; [[MrBot]], a personal assistant used on the RS HoloNet; and the [[Mission Database]], a simulator containing hundreds of historical missions.

Licah returned to command eventually as [[Operations Officer]], [[Alderman]] and, later, head of [[Modern Gaming|Tactical Developments]]. As one of the longest-tenured officers in the Rebel Squadrons (16 consecutive years and counting), Licah maintains an institutional memory matched only by the six officers who have served longer than he has: [[Codyman]], [[Kaz]], [[Kirghy]], [[Cyrel]], [[Spokes]], and [[Gavin Kravis]], as well as [[IronMan]] and [[Raven]]. Licah still flies missions as needed, and continues to maintain the HoloNet.

== Appearance and Personality ==
Licah is descended paternally from the [[Vulpes]] species, and as the only member of that species serving in the RS, all officers immediately recognize him due to his fox-like humanoid appearance. Due to copious shedding during the stress of battle, his personal fighters have a special filtration system to ensure clean air. From his Vulpes heritage he has below-average strength, but excellent reaction time, and fantastic senses of hearing and smell.

For most of his life, Licah had the easygoing, relaxed attitude of a creature who knew he could match any rival in combat or intellectual wit, took all assignments with aplomb, and especially enjoyed the hardest tasks that few accepted. Towards recent years, however, the pressure and responsibilities of long years of difficult leadership have made Licah much more serious, and an extensive list of lost squadmates has kept Licah from stepping into the cockpit except in cases of sore need. The loss of so many good officers in Command also has placed a heavy burden on Licah. He and [[Joshua Hawkins]] alone share the responsibilities of maintaining the HoloNet, with a list of duties that remains the same as in years past, but without the help of dozens of other officers.

=== Gear ===
Though capable of basic combat skills, Licah now only engages the enemy behind the controls of a starfighter or from a tactical map. He possesses only a standard-issue blaster and only borrows other gear in special cases. As the second-most decorated officer in the RS (214 medals) behind ADM [[Tyrell "Spokes" Borran]], Licah almost always foregoes his formal dress uniform, preferring a sleeker, lighter version for daily work. Licah has a unique link to the main RS database implanted in a chip in his wrist that enables him to access every single piece of information on the network, far more than even the FC can easily access. With such a risk of compromise if captured, he has set up the chip to operate only under very specific conditions, which he refuses to share with anyone.

Fleet Admiral Cyrel Vandroth currently serves in the [[Allegiance Battle Group]] as a Senior Game Master. He can normally be found idling or actively in the #allegience chat room on the undernet as RS_Cyrel or Ciredik. In multiplayer events for the RS and for EaW he goes by RS_Cyrel.

==Player History==

Following the release of Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight in 1997, Cyrel met Troy Nexus on the MSN gaming zone stabbing people for giggles. Enticed by the idea of joining a 'guild' or 'clan', he took Troy's advice and joined the Rebel Squadrons, becoming a new cadet in the Rebel Squadrons Commando Division. While joining this early makes Cyrel one of the 'older' class of members to remain active with the Rebel Squadrons today, periods of inactivity related to parental scholastic prodding has often kept him from becoming particularly well known in the club.. that and frequent name changes.

Upon joining the RSCD, Cyrel realized he needed an alias for his online adventures within the RS. Having just been introduced to the concept of soldiering and various military movies of the era, he chose to utilize the infamous nickname 'Deadmeat' reserved for green troopers thrust into battle... However, barring an unfortunate issue regarding the reservation of said name on the MSN gaming zone and IRC at the time, Cyrel opted simply to go for a slightly altered spelling. Hence, [[Deadmeet]] was born.

((The following paragraph/sentence is subject to revision, given a lack of documentation to back up Cyrel 's faulty memory))
'Deadmeet' proceeded to dominate all that was put before him in a fiery blaze of JK glory, or he was an indifferent student of the game and played a couple matches in the Minos Cluster Conflict (Which he didn't get the fancy tour ribbon for, grrr!)... either way, after briefly commanding Shadow Squad, Deadmeet turned his eye towards the [[Aurora Force]] and resigned his positions within the RSCD. Somewhere in there Cyrel also purchased X-wing and Tie Fighter, and flew several missions with Wraith Squadron.

Deadmeet's story within the Aurora Force was.. colored, at best. While the storylines within the group started off tame enough, adolescent quests to be 'cool' played off of one another within the group and resulted in some rather extravagant plot developments (Including, but not limited to: storming an Executor Class SSD and successfully subduing the crew, the discovery and utilization of a Maw-esc research and construction facility that was codenamed 'Stormlight', the creation of the Chu'unthor II which featured a large crystalline plasma based weapon similar to that found in the Wing Commander: Prophecy video game and, last but not least, becoming Grand Master of the 'Sedith' force order (A group of individuals who favored an 'enlightened' view of the force and felt it was their duty to maintain a balance between Light and Dark, both within themselves and the galaxy) )). When Cyrel chose to finally leave the AF after becoming aware of the extent of the... silliness... some of the plotlines had acquired, he chose to abandon the Deadmeet persona in order to start anew.

Thus, Cyrel adopted a new persona named [[Zak Ciredik]] and utilized him throughout much of his career with the ABG. Starting as a would be slicer with limited force potential, Zak rose through the ranks of the group's jedi order and the Wing itself. Eventually becoming the commanding officer of Allegiance Wing for a short period of time, Cyrel chose to resign in order to focus on academic work back in the real world.

After a short stint with a psychologically unstable demolitions expert, Belasai Seuchuti, Cyrel officially retired his now Jedi Master Zak Ciredik and created the character which currently serves as his online moniker: Cyrel Vandroth. Cyrel represented an attempt to thoroughly test the newly revised rules system governing the force, as well as create a new level of interaction with the younger players as a 'fresh' character. Eventually, Zak was reinstated as a PC and, similarly, was utilized to thoroughly test the dark-side powers that normally were only utilized by GMs.

While Zak is currently his active persona within ABG sims, Cyrel has kept the good Dr. as his meta RS persona.

The constant drumming of one of Coruscantâ€™s fierce thunderstorms pelted the surface with its usual vengeance upon the planet-wide city. Lashes of rain slammed against upper tier buildings that easily bore the brunt of the assault, causing droplets to flow into streams down the sides, plunging into Coruscantâ€™s depths. Down below the gleam and polish of the upper city streets, sheets of water ran like Nabooian falls through the depths, flowing over walkways and back alleys alike. Splashes off of overhanging walkways, balconies, and buildings crisscrossing further and further down recreate a rain like effect for even the lowest granite slug during the worst storms. It was on one of these nights that two New Republic soldiers stumbled upon their quarry.

The piercing white light of a handheld glow rod swept over the tattered and decayed form of what could otherwise be considered your every day drunkard: an old, craggy faced man lay curled up on the ferrocrete pavement, clutching a bottle of arguably fine Corellian Whiskey, oblivious to the torrential rainfall going on around him as it further soaked his stained, faded clothing. The only thing that struck the two officers as out of the ordinary about him was the faint blue glow emanating from the manâ€™s eyes in the darkness, peering up at the people who disrupted his slumber. As the brilliant light cut through the haze of rain, the man raised the half empty bottle in an attempt to diffuse the brilliance shining on his eyes.

The one of the soldiers lowered his light, shaking his head, â€œIs that him, the â€˜generalâ€™ we were sent to find?â€ His tone belied a rather strong disbelief that anyone anointed with such a rank could sink so low.

Moments after consulting a datapad and peering around the whiskey bottle, his companion confirmed their suspicions, â€œYeah, thatâ€™s him.... go get him up, Iâ€™ll call the speeder.â€

â€œMe?! I saw the lout first, you go pick him up and Iâ€™ll call the speeder. The guy probably smells like crap..literally.â€

â€œHey, I already got the damned datapad out and besides, I have three days seniority on you so move it!â€

Grumbling, the nondescript soldier went forward into the alley, directing his beam towards the manâ€™s torso. The brilliant white light illuminated what seemed to be an old college vest, lined with what appeared to be insignias denoting the Coruscanti School of Medicine along with various honoraries and valedictorian pins. The upper left hand corner featured a rank patch denoting this poor creature as a Major General with the New Republic armed forcesâ€¦ the soldier resisted a reflexive urge to spit at the man disgracing that insignia, instead dragging him to his feet.

The drunk was in no state to resist, fumbling around haphazardly as he attempted to dislodge the soldiers firm grip, glaring at him through his intoxicated haze as his thick dialect tinted his slurred basic ((think a hodgepodge of Scottish and Irish ;D )), â€œOih, what tha bloody â€˜ell are yeh doin?! Took meh ten kriffin h..*hic* houâ€¦minutes teh find tha spot, lemme go!â€

The soldier took a little enjoyment in denying the man his respite as not even the constant rain pattering on his already soaked uniform could drown out the stench of drunkenness reeking off of the man in his grip. The one with the datapad seemed to offer a sympathetic smile as a moderate sized personal speeder lowered onto the ferrocrete pavement. â€œDo not worry sir, Iâ€™m sure youâ€™ll get cleaned up in no time.â€

The drunk blinked incomprehensibly at the smiling soldier as he was shoved unceremoniously into the back seat of the speeder by the other. As the door slammed with slightly more force then necessary, the vehicle lifted off and began to cruise down the under city streets. The one who was forced to handle the drunk grimaced as he inhaled the aroma now wafting off of his uniform, â€œKriffing son of aâ€¦ how in blazes did that guy sink so lowâ€¦ and whatâ€™s up with those eyes?â€

The datapad wielding soldier sighed, glaring at her companion, â€œQuit being speciest, and do you ever bother to read our briefings?â€ She clicked her tongue in vexation and shook her head before continuing, â€œThat man was a local surgeon at an Imperial instillationâ€¦ strange the file didnâ€™t say whereâ€¦ anyway, when we hit this place and wrested control away from the Imperials, he remained on the ground instead of fleeing with most of the rest of high society. When all hell was breaking lose, he managed to gather as many people capable of defending themselves as he could and started setting up defended triage stations to take care of the woundedâ€¦ After awhile, he had a few hundred men under him following his lead just because he had his head on his shoulders and was saving lives.

Command found him a few days later, he had managed to gather up so many soldiers that he warranted a temporary commission just to keep them in line. He stuck around on Coruscant since then, helping with disaster relief and racking up more and more volunteers and promotions until his rank finally justâ€¦ stuck. Now that things have settled down, he seemed to have slipped through the new bureaucracy untilâ€¦ well, we found him.â€

The other soldier blinked a few times, â€œâ€¦how do you know all this crap?â€

The other soldier smirked and promptly thwapped her companion on the helmet with her datapad, â€œI read, numbskull. Come on, we need to get back to our patrol.â€

As they both turned to head down the street, with the one lightly rubbing his head from the blow, the first spoke up, â€œSo, what is his name anyway?â€

Before as the other answered, a resounding blast of thunder from over head reverberated through the undercity, even through the speeder that the doctor made general was trying not to vomit in.

Situated on a bench opposite to the one the man was currently trying to sit up on, a figure illuminated only by the periodic passing of exterior lights spoke with a serious, gravely voice, â€œMind the upholstery General, our technicians would not enjoy cleaning this out. Do you know who I am?â€

The drunk swept his bleary gaze over the shadowy form for a momentâ€¦ his eyes widening in a flash of recognition as a change stream of light cascaded over the rank plate and the cut of the uniform. A small level of sobriety instantly hit the general with a burst of adrenaline as he sat up, dumbly pointing towards the other, â€œYer directo---â€œ

A dismissive hand gesture cut off the comment as the other figure shifted slightly in his seat, â€œGoodâ€¦ your memory hasnâ€™t left you entirely, I may have had to feign disappointment if you had forgotten our last meeting. Suffice it to say, I am here representing the New Republic Intelligenceâ€™s interests, which so happen to involve you, General.â€

â€œâ€¦Meh? Whadya.. whama..what would yeh want with meh? Yeh quitâ€¦ bloody payin meh five months ago!â€

â€œCalm down, General. Your pay was suspended due to your negligence to report for reassignment.. We were hoping that the lack of funds would drive you to return and seek further employment as your leadership abilities and medical knowledge would have been useful on other damaged sectors of the cityâ€¦ Your choice to drown yourself in alchohol and slowly whittle away your considerable bank account wasâ€¦disappointing, to say the least.â€

Leadership abilitiesâ€¦ pehâ€¦ his orders werenâ€™t tactically sound, nor did they ever gain anyone any strategic advantageâ€¦ in fact, usually quite the oppositeâ€¦ but they saved lives. He had done his best to save every man who came to work for him, he hoped it began to repay the debt he had wracked up to society, if anything could forgive what he had done. â€œYeh can take yer disappointment and shove it, director, I got my own concerns, yeh can just let tha galaxy forget about me.â€

As if reading his thoughts, the silhouette went on, â€œI think not. While we have granted you clemency for your participation in Derricoteâ€™s research, a task made easier due to the publicâ€™s general ignorance of the particulars of that potential disaster, it would be unfortunate if your role were made publicâ€¦especially given your choice of rest areas.â€

The man in tatters half glared, half sighed in resignation at the silhouette, â€œYeh hadnâ€™t got tha balls laddieâ€¦ even if yeh did, it wouldnâ€™t be half as much as I deserved.â€

The figure sighed as well before flicking his wrist, launching a datapad into the other manâ€™s chest with a dull thump. â€œSave it for later, general. If you feel you need further rehabilitation to be a soul worthy of living, you might as well accept this offer. There is a special operations unit out in the outer rim, a subdivision of the ongoing liberation of the Greeop sector. We haveâ€¦surprising little intelligence coming out of that region of space and it has been decided additional sources need to be added to that sector. The skills you have acquired while surviving Coruscantâ€™s liberation ironically make you an ideal candidate for the squadronâ€¦ as well as other considerations.â€

The â€˜generalâ€™ grunted, looking up from the datapad, â€œYeh mean tha fact yer blackmailing meh into this.â€

A passing flash of light shone on a smile that was all teeth, â€œPrecisely. In return for your cooperation, weâ€™re willing to reinstate your pay gradeâ€¦ Iâ€™m even authorized to promote you to Lieutenant General for your participation. Granted, your commission really has no bearing due to the fact that you wonâ€™t officially be assigned to a fleetâ€¦ not as you truly are, anyway. Your paper work is all on that pad, as is your graduation certificate from the academy. Congratulations, you passed with distinction, lieutenant.â€

The general glared, well squinted really, at the other man, almost shutting out the faint light projected from his eyes as the speeder slowed to a stop again.

â€œTake it or leave it, I donâ€™t really care, we can find someone elseâ€¦ but there are a lot of good people out there on the rim and, quite frankly, they could use every medically trained person they can get their hands on.â€

The general stared down at the datapad again, thumbing over his resume as the driver stepped out of the front of the speeder. â€œâ€¦this claims tha I have some decent skills flyin shuttles an other transport craftâ€¦ I havenâ€™t ever touched a damned thing, whadâ€™ya expect me to do, crash?â€

The silhouetteâ€™s grin of triumph at the other manâ€™s omission of participation was masked by the shadow of the driver walking around the speeder, â€œIt was necessary to make your application all the moreâ€¦ palatable. You will be expected to perform in all possible theaters, so it was necessary to give you a purpose. I imagine you will find a low grade recreational simulator on your transport, I suggest you monopolize it.â€

The door opened, causing the lieutenant to blink rapidly as beams of sunlight cascaded down into the speeder. He had not even noticed the slackening of the storm during their transit, let alone their change in elevation out of the under city. He looked down at the datapad in his hands one last time before slipping it inside his vest without so much as an â€˜if you please?â€™ He managed a grin, if shaky, to the silhouette, â€œGuess this is meh stopâ€¦ see yeh aroundâ€¦ oh, the Admiral insignia was a nice touch, by the way.â€

It was an exercise he had gone over only twice in his life before, convincing yourself that your name was something else entirely was a rather annoying and time consuming processâ€¦ but it often prevented unnecessary slip ups later. Hopefully, heâ€™d have it stuck soon enough. Clean shaven, bathed, and clad in a New Republic uniform he certainly looked like a different man then the one bossing around soldiers and fellow medics alike over a year ago. He would, however, still be an oddityâ€¦ not many â€˜recruitsâ€™ came down the pipeline after the age of fifty, let alone ones seeking active combat duty.

He was spry for his age and prided himself on keeping his body relatively in shape, well, enough to move when he needed to. He had always been quite dexterous, something he imagined that was passed down from the parents he never knew, just like his eyes. Both had saved him once or twice before, as no one tends to expect a graying, wrinkled man to tumble out of the way of a blaster bolt without so much as a bruised shoulder. Never the less, he had since taken on walking with a gimp in his left leg that it had become habitual, forever walking with a deceptive hobble that played up his ageâ€¦ he would get a lot of odd looks, but hopefully those odd looks would be change the first time he is forced to sew up a comrade in the middle of a pitched fight.

Cyrel shivered, his distracted thoughts causing him to slam his simulated shuttle into the hull of the ship he was docking with. He slammed the controls forward in disgust, rubbing his fingers into his eyesâ€¦. Thankfully, this was going to be a long trip.
