A simple man, but an ace in an Interceptor. Harv proves to have superior skills in a starfighter perhaps even greater than his Squadron Commander, Octanab Irva.

Later in the story Irva tries to get Harv to open up around him more, instead of being cold and calculating. This eventually did happen, in the form of Harv taking pitty on the prisoner they captured. He discovered that the prisoner was being tortured beyond reasonable cause and measure.

That was the start of his first dispute, but another arises once a pilot named Darren Jeter announces his presense during a furball. Both Irva and Dentfield are continually haunted by Darren's X-wing, as time after time they fail to shoot him down. Darren used "ego" as a trick during their 2nd encounter, only to later escape.
