<p><b>New page</b></p><div>There seems to be quite a lot of debate about how exactly the VSD-II differs from the VSD-I, with some sources arguing that it had more firepower, or less firepower, or better shields, or worse shields. All sources seem to agree that the VSD-II received more capable sublight engines for space combat and lost the ability to enter planetary atmospheres that was characteristic of the VSD-I. The other debate on the VSDs seems to be over how you tell the difference between the variants visually. I'm going with the theory that the VSD-I's are characterized by single aerodynamic winglets, while the VSD-II's have the cross-shaped winglets.
