* Open DOSBox once, then quit it using the command:
exit

* Find and open the DOSBox configuration file. Mac: go to Finder, hold down Option, at the top menu, Go > Library; Preferences; DOSBox x.yz Preferences. Windows: See http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/dosbox.conf#Windows

* Edit the file in a text editor (Mac: TextEdit; Windows: Notepad). At the bottom of the file, switch "ipx=false" to: "ipx=true". In the middle of the file, switch "cycles=auto" to "cycles=fixed 8000". Finally, put in the following lines at the very bottom of the file, then save and exit:
mount c /Users/me/DOS (note! replace this last bit with the full location of the directory you created above)
