Overview

35:1

  • Fitz Roi, a Jatz Musician, had his concert tour nearly dumped by sponsor Flangth-2-Go when he appeared on stage as a Jedi Knight during a concert in Camalar on Esseles.
  • Alliance activity in Kesh Sector increased.
  • In this era, the Battlefield Holographic Control Interface was introduced (albeit briefly) into the Imperial military.
  • An Imperial propaganda campaign convinced the Kubaz that the Rebels were sabotaging their scientific efforts, placing the Kubaz majority firmly in the Imperial camp.
  • Imperials defeated Alliance forces at the Battle of Thovinack.
  • Soon before the Battle of Yavin, the Empire took over the Cassandran Worlds, splitting the domain into three new political entities: the Cassander Sector (including Cassander AKA Cassander's Star); the Tadrin Sector (with Garqi included and Minashee as capital); and the Tendrannan Sector (ruled by Isiring and including the half-explored Kalki Nebula). The Tardin Sector would be governed by Luthus Tadrin.
  • The Gyrica system was the site of Imperial control for surrounding space. The Alliance attacked Imperial forces at Milvayne to shut down Imperial control in Gyrica. This attack caused great controversy in the Alliance ranks, causing a split between leaders Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis. Supporting the attack was one of the last acts of Rebellion Bail Organa would contribute.
  • The Max Rebo Band (still under the name Evar Orbus and His Galactic Wailers) were seen playing on Danuta, as part of their Outer Rim tour.

35:1:22

  • TriNebulon News reported that drunken musician Fitz Roi unleashed a barrage of fire from his famous antique projectile pistols before a concert in the Crystal Room on Rimma. His actions damaged several artefacts, causing him to be deported before the concert could take place, which led to rioting by fans.

Between 35:1:22 and 35:2:13

  • Imperial forces discovered dissent on the planet Agamar. Focusing their ire on the settlement of Tondatha, they brought their might down on the settlement. Many died, but those who survived had now seen the true face of the cruel Empire.

35:2

35:2:13

  • According to Imperial HoloVision, Rebel uprising took place on Gerrard V, but was short lived, as Imperial forces led by Admiral Jion Trynn arrived and struck down the Rebel forces.

35:2:17

  • Independent Traders's Infonet reported that the gladiator droid market was booming.

35:2:19

  • Cynabar's InfoNet reporteds that Ithorian Shamarok Flitters were in fashion on Lianna.

35:2:19 to 35:3:3

  • The raid on Ylesia by Rebel Alliance and smuggler parties went forward. Commander Bria Tharen led the unified force, and the mission was a success for the Rebel forces. Unfortunately, all smuggler forces involved in the assault on Colony One were betrayed by Commander Tharen's troops, who took all the spoils for themselves as blaster-point.
  • By this time, the stygian crystals on Aeten II had been depleted, making the creation of further stygian crystal cloaking devices nearly impossible.
  • As the Empire occupied Raltiir, Pharl McQuarrie left the world to get aid from the Rebel Alliance.
  • On the planet Raltiir, the Empire had begun to crack down on Rebel Alliance activity. Among the troops who hit a Rebel "ammo dump" (actually a med center) in the town of Ettam was clone stormtrooper TK-622. He remained a loyal servant to Commander Akobi, whose life he saved two years earlier. As the Rebels were rounded up, Akobi intended on fulfilling his promise of restoring power to the area's citizens as a show of Imperial trustworthiness before leaving the world with his troops to be stationed on the Death Star. Before they could leave, though, sabotage almost killed Akobi. Again, TK-622 saved his life.
  • Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, a Rebel raid led by Jan Dodonna and Roons Sewell liberated a huge cache of proton torpedoes, but were nearly captured by Imperials. Sewell sacrificed himself in a suicidal mission to lead the Imperials away. His sacrifice allowed the Alliance to gain the torpedoes that would be used in the Battle of Yavin.
  • Biggs Darklighter left on his first mission as an Imperial aboard the Rand Elliptic. He and several others jumped ship and joined the alliance. Shortly thereafter, he joined Wedge Antilles, Cesi "Doc" Eirriss and Jek Porkins on a mission to Commenor.

35:3

  • Raltiir Exchange, the primary financial market of Raltiir, nearly collapsed in the wake of the planet's subjugation by the Empire, as the Empire nationalised Bansche Tech and SGI Systems.

35:3:3

  • Princess Leia Organa's starship, the Tantive IV stopped over on worlds with Rebel forces requiring supplies and assistance.
  • The Galaxy News Service belatedly reported the suppression of Rebel activity on Raltiir, including the formation of a blockade of the world and the disbanding of the Raltiir High Council.

35:3:4

  • Princess Leia Organa, aboard the Tantive IV, rushed into restricted space near Toprawa to receive plans for the Death Star from doomed Rebel forces on the planet led by Commander Bria Tharen, before continuing on to Tatooine to collect the hermit Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, Darth Vader's flagship, the Imperial Star Destroyer Devastator arrived as the Tantive IV was receiving the Death Star plans at Toprawa, and pursued Senator Organa's vessel to Tatooine orbit. The Devastator overpowered the Tantive IV, however Senator Organa ejected the Death Star plans to the desert surface of Tatooine in the memory unit of an R2 unit, which delivered it to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Senator Organa was captured by Darth Vader and taken to the Death Star for interrogation to learn the location of the Rebel base.
  • After thoroughly searching the captured vessel, the Devastator destroyed the Tantive IV, and informed the Imperial Senate that the ship suffered a fatal accident.
  • Imperial forces scoured the surface of Tatooine to track down the Death Star plans. The droids with the plans came into contact with a Tatooine farmboy, Luke Skywalker, who in a round-about way ended up delivering them to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

35:3:5

  • Coruscant Daily NewsFeed reported the disbanding of the Imperial Senate.
  • On Commenor, Wedge Antilles, Jek Porkins, Cesi "Doc" Eirriss, and Biggs Darklighter of Red Squadron met with Captain Dantels and acquired astromechs for the Rebel Alliance. During their escape from Commenor, Eirriss was killed. The others headed back to Yavin IV.
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker hire the Corellian smuggler Han Solo and his first mate Chewbacca to take them to Alderaan to deliver the Death Star plans to Bail Organa, onboard Solo's freighter, the Millennium Falcon.
  • Senator Organa was interrogated by Darth Vader, but she resisted and refused to divulge the location of the Rebel Alliance's base. The Senator was then brought before Grand Moff Tarkin, who threatened to destroy Alderaan if she did not co-operation. When Organa pretended to capitulate by revealing the location of the abandoned Rebel base on Dantooine, Tarkin decided to destroy Alderaan anyway, despite her apparent co-operation.
  • The Millennium Falcon arrived at the remains of Alderaan and was forcibly taken aboard the Death Star. Through various means, Solo, Skywalker and Chewbacca rescued Senator Organa from termination, and Kenobi disabled the tractor beam, allowing the Millennium Falcon to depart from the station.
  • As the teams made it back to the Millennium Falcon, Kenobi was forced to confront Darth Vader. The two entered a viscous duel until Kenobi allowed himself to be cut down by Vader, to allow the others to escape with the Death Star plans. The rest of the group escaped from the Death Star, but they unknowingly tracked the Death Star to the Rebel base on Yavin IV.
  • General Jan Dodonna held a memorial for the late General Roons Sewell, who had sacrificed himself in an operation to procure the proton torpedoes the Rebels would use in the Battle of Yavin.
  • The Death Star headed for Yavin IV. At the base, Captain Solo and Chewbacca claimed their reward and payment and left the forces of the Rebellion to dig in and prepare a desperate assault on the Death Star before it could destroy the Rebel base.
  • The Death Star entered the system, and Rebel starfighters took to space. In the Battle of Yavin that followed, almost every member of the Rebel squadrons were killed. As Darth Vader and his wingmen pursued, Skywalker closed on the exhaust port which would allow him to fire a proton torpedo into the area necessary to destroy the station. His two wingmates hold the TIEs from firing on him as long as they can, with Wedge Antilles forced to break off after taking hits, and Biggs Darklighter killed by Vader, leaving Luke alone with the three TIEs. Finally, Captain Han Solo and Chewbacca inexplicably returned to the system and destroyed Vader's wingmates, sending Vader spiralling out of control from the battle, freeing Skywalker to make the shot. Skywalker fired the torpedoes and the Death Star was destroyed before it could destroy the Rebel base. They returned to Yavin IV for a heroes' welcome. Solo and Skywalker received medals, while Chewbacca's medal awaited him at a special ceremony on Kashyyyk shortly thereafter.
  • As the Battle of Yavin was planned and launched, the second half of the Second Battle of Ord Biniir took place. The Imperial 181st Fighter Wing arrived at Ord Biniir, where they destroyed the Rebel Alliance forces who so recently took the world from the Imperials.
  • While the heroes of the Battle of Yavin (Luke Skywalker and Han Solo) were celebrated, Derek "Hobbie" Klivian and Captain Nera Dantels mourned the loss of their fallen companion Biggs Darklighter in a hall of holographic memorials to the pilots of Red and Gold Squadrons.

Between 35:3:5 and 35:3:12

  • Affric became the Sarin Sector's High Lord.
  • Based on anger about the loss of the Death Star plans to Operation: Skyhook, the Emperor ordered Toprawa reduced to a pre-industrial civilisation.
  • With Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's death at the Battle of Yavin, Emperor Palpatine appointed Ardus Kaine as the new Grand Moff of the Outer Rim Territories.

  • Millennia after the devastation in the Uba system, the Yrak Pootzck (the relocated Ubese who went to Ubertica) rediscovered the Uba system and brought starfaring technology to the "true Ubese".
  • Gunda Mabin AKA Gunda the Terror burst onto the galactic pirate scene as a member of the Riders of the Maelstrom.
  • Imperial Admiral Gor Lequar was placed in command of the Third Ado Superiority Fleet.
  • The Empire introduced the Thran-class starship into its fleet.
  • In the wake of the near destruction of Red Squadron at the Battle of Yavin, the squadron was reconstructed from some of the Rebellion's best pilots. The following pilots were lost by the end of the Battle of Yavin: Garven Dreis; Biggs Darklighter; John D.; Jek Porkins; Theron Nett; Elyhek Rue; Naytaan; and Bren Quersey. The new Red Squadron replaced former Red Leader Garven Dreis with Commander Narra, and Luke Skywalker became the squadron's second-in-command, despite his relative lack of combat experience. Red Squadron was to be divided much of the time into two flights, Renegade (under Narra) and Rogue (under Skywalker). The new squadron also included: Zev Senesca; Wedge Antilles; Derek "Hobbie" Klivian; Wes Janson; Dack Ralter; Tycho Celchu; and at least four other pilots by the time of the Battle of Hoth (who would die just before the battle in an ambush at Derra IV).

35:3:12

  • Based on a cover story by Emperor Palpatine, Imperial HoloVision reported that Alderaan was destroyed approximately one week earlier in a series of explosions, which were caused by an Alderaanian superweapon.
  • Emperor Palpatine informed the Empire that Alderaan was destroyed by a meteor shower, but then changed the story to reflect that the Alderaanians were trying to develop a superweapon that backfired on them. In response, the Rebels showed actual footage of the destruction on the HoloNet, prompting Emperor Palpatine to explain that Alderaan was developing bio-weaponry and was destroyed to protect other systems. He then tried to cover his misdeeds by allowing the survivors of the destruction of Alderaan to settle on an Imperial pleasure world.

35:3:14

  • The Herglic Trading Journal reported the opening of the Kira Run to mainstream trade.
  • Admiral Nyran's Nullifier was placed in command of the fleet protecting Corulag.

Between 35:4:22 and 35:5:27

  • Lantillian ShipWrights was absorbed by TaggeCo, and many of the corporation's designers were fired. Lantillian ShipWrights was a small starship designer best known for the GX1 Short Hauler.
  • Owing to the death of Bail Organa on Alderaan, Cryoncorp. pledged its support to Leia Organa and the Rebel Alliance.
  • The Alliance gained a foothold in the Mortex Sector.
  • The city of Chinshassa on Shalyvane was destroyed, supposedly for resisting Imperial rule, although the natives did not understand the attack. This would later be used to provide a false background for Imperial Intelligence operative Shira Elan Colla Brie, whom Darth Vader and Ysanne Isard would eventually send to infiltrate the Rebel Alliance as a pilot.
  • After three years of devastating battles, the Trianii Rangers and the Corporate Sector Authority signed an armistice treaty.
  • Ashii Nermani, a beautiful woman, was considered Imperial HoloVisions's most popular newscaster. She was the first to break the story that Venslas Beeli had become a privateer working for the Alliance. The newsfeed article was part of a plot to draw Captain Dhas Vedij and the Far Orbit into a trap laid by the Empire. She also broke the story of the capture of Coh Veshiv, although her report claimed that he had been killed in a space accident.
  • Oracle Squadron at Oracle Base on Tel III attempted to rescue prisoners from the Caged Animal after the Empire launched an ambush on Alliance forces. The squadron took fifty losses.
  • Lirisa Casti helped sabotage Lant Mining Corporation activities on Demar for the Rebel Alliance.

  • Rezion, a Sienar Fleet Systems researcher, defected to the Alliance with his daughter.
  • Rendric discovered that the Empire was flooding the Outer Rim with Viper probe droids.
  • The planet Alluuvia was discovered during an exploration mission funded by Radell Mining Corporation. Its ownership was disputed by the Scourge, a pirate gang who tried to claim it as their own. Radell had sent the Gray Griffins to follow up their exploration activities, but they were captured by the Scourge and held for ransom until a group of Alliance agents rescued them. Alluuvia was an ocean world whose waters were dense with metals and minerals that made it toxic to offworlders. Alluuvia was also the homeworld of the Anguilla. The Empire's Imperial Mining Ltd. tried to establish a mining outpost on the planet, recognising the concentrations of alanium, doonium, and zersium were enough to fund any operation. The Anguilla, led by Anvar, opposed the Imperial occupation, and with some help from the Alliance, they were able to drive off the Imperial presence. Anyar eventually agreed to allow Radell Mining Corporation to mine the planet, so long as the Ithorian Iych-thae oversaw their work.

Between 35:5:27 and 35:6:16

  • A group of Rebels made a raid on the formerly secret Imperial prison planet Branth. In the assault, they released various aliens from imprisonment, including a large number of Wookiees, for whom the Imperials originally engineered the facility after its original purpose, droid production, fell on hard times.
  • A group of Rebels headed for Geric IV to take supplies to the Rebels there. En route, the ship's hyperdrive malfunctioned, requiring them to crash on a unknown moon. After searching the moon, they discovered that it is the location of the old Tembora Research Station, where scientists during the Clone Wars worked to perfect warrior droids of the KLR line. When they perfected the KLR-B1, the first model killed everyone in the facility. The droid now harasses or kills anyone arriving on the moon. The heroes barely managed to survive the droid's assaults, but their success brought valuable weapons technology information to the Rebellion.
  • A group of Rebels are forced to stop and repair their ship on Muurgah, a planet known as a starship graveyard. While repairing the vessel, they came upon R2-D6. The droid had been aboard a Rebel Y-wing scouting pirate activities in the area when the Y-wing was blasted. The ship was taken and sold, then finally scrapped on Muurgah. When the Rebels finished their repairs, they took R2-D6 and the information on pirate activities (albeit a bit old) back to the Alliance.
  • Reginard Base, a Rebel installation, was infiltrated by a traitor who released the triflexia virus within the base. The virus altered blood vessels to provide a gruesome death, but luckily the Rebels on the base managed to find the traitor and quarantine the virus before it could spread beyond the base.
  • The Imperial Enforcement DataCore updated a list of bounties for those with an Imperial Peace Keeping Certificate. This service, provided by the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigation provided, in this update, information on MI-726, Devidia Vennsiol, Stormtrooper X, Drooto Sploonore, Vooz Nooxoo Una, Subject 4D668493X, Reerookachuck, Traggissk Reosss, Skawn Bonduna, and Scranton Toon.

35:6

35:6:16

  • Cynabar's InfoNet reported on the growing smuggling trade around Raltiir in light of the blockade.

35:7

  • The Imperial base on the planet Shadren V was destroyed by the Rebel Alliance.
  • Spheroids gained popularity as a competitive sport.
  • The Alderaanian Death Legion was formed as a unit of the Alliance's Special Forces, and was made up exclusively of men and women who were natives of Alderaan. They were given the worst sort of missions against the Empire, mainly because they requested them.
  • Nova Designs Incorporated became one of the largest buyers of spin–sealer tibanna gas from Cloud City.
  • The Battle of Heg took place, a struggle for control of the planet Bundim. The Battle of Heg saw a resounding Imperial victory over the Alliance forces trying to liberate the planet. Heg itself was levelled by Imperial forces in just three days, but the Alliance rallied and were able to overcome the Imperials and restore freedom to the planet.
  • The Empire constructed an Imperial repair station, designated M13 around the planet Mycroft. Its mission was to support the Imperial exploration and picket ships operating in Fakir Sector during the Galactic Civil War. As part of Operation Retribution, a group of Alliance agents were sent to Mycroft to harass the station, and nearly succeeded in destroying it. As it was, the station was rendered useless to the Empire and abandoned.
  • During this period of time, Villis Andal, an Imperial Moff, controlled the Elrood Sector. He found himself unable to contain the rising tide of piracy and rebellion which sprang up after the destruction of the planet Alderaan, even with three Imperial–class Star Destroyers at his disposal. When the Brazen was destroyed by Alliance forces while in dry dock at the Derilyn Space Defence Platform, Moff Andal was removed from his position and re-assigned.
  • Lacking the initiative to build up a large enough fleet to attack Mon Calamari, the Empire attacked the Ruisto colony instead
  • On Quellor, a peaceful demonstration (complete with burning Palpatine effigy), was held in Terrina Square. Moff Toggan sent stormtroopers to break it up. When the stormtroopers opened fire, apparently unprovoked, the slaughter that followed causes outrage across the News Nets; until COMPNOR cut off news feeds from the scene after only thirty minutes of broadcasting.
  • Following the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Naval Command experienced an exaggerated but understandable case of phobia concerning Rebel starfighters. One group of senior admirals, led by the vocal Admiral Drez, argued that the Death Star's destruction was due to the lack of anti-starfighter screening vessels. Drez stated that "until an anti-starfighter screening vessel is brought into service, every capital ship in the fleet is in imminent danger". Naval Command authorised the construction of Kuat Drive Yard's Lancer-class frigate -- but only a limited number to serve as test vessels.
  • Pollux Hax, former chief of the Emperor's propaganda dissemination section, submitted a report to the public about the planet Coruscant AKA Imperial Centre. It is rife with the kind of fact twisting and politicking that was his stock-in-trade while working for Emperor Palpatine, so it bore very little academic weight.
  • Trask Industries released the 008 Heavy Landspeeder.
  • Over three decades after creating the Victory-class Star Destroyer, Walex Blissex was a full fledged member of the Rebel Alliance.
  • Commander Ackbar worked with the technologically adept Verpine race at the Roche asteroid system on Project Shantipole -- a Research & Development program to develop better starfighters to battle the Imperial war machine, especially the lethally effective Nebulon-B Frigate. This project had reached a successful height with the introduction of the high-armoured, lethally armed B-Wing starfighter.
  • For their assistance with Alliance forces in designing the B-wing, the Empire sent an ultimatum to the Verpine -- submit to the Empire or die. The Verpine loudly refused, deciding to actively join the Rebellion.
  • For the successful development of the B-Wing, Mon Mothma promoted Ackbar to the rank of Admiral.
  • Luke Skywalker and Keyan Farlander worked together on the official roll-out of the B-wing starfighter.
  • The Empire finally came to Rhamalai, taking the world under full control to use its agriculture to feed the Imperial army.
  • While working as head of the University of Sanbra's Sentient Studies Department and compiling The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life, Professor Tem Eliss was approached by an Abinyshi named S'itl Thirr, who asked him to tell the real story of what happened to the Abinyshi species. Shortly after this meeting, Eliss fled campus after annoying COMPNOR by not following correct anti-alien protocols in his writing. Within three weeks, he would release The Guide's completed chapters on the communication nets.

35:7:10

  • Coruscant Daily NewsFeed reported that Canna Omonda, former Chandrillan senator and protégé of Mon Mothma, after having spoken against the Emperor after the disbanding of the Imperial Senate, had been taken into custody and sent to Inquisitor Halmere. While under Halmere's "care", Omonda confessed to Rebel activities and gave up the names of his Rebel contacts. Omonda was sentenced to death.

Upon returning to the Rebel fleet proper, they were next sent to the planet Barkhesh, where they helped protect a supply convoy from Imperial forces. Next on the agenda was the planet Chorax, where the Nonnah, a Rebel vessel carrying sensitive Imperial technology, had crash landed. They managed to save the crew of the Nonnah and their precious cargo, all of which were evacuated aboard a shuttle under General Carlist Rieekan.
