Introduction/Basic History

The planet Paliura is one of 4 different planets (Paliura, Heilige, Kalia, and Turpis) that surrounds the sun called Damuu (also known sometimes as Vita) in the Damuu System. The first intelligent inhabitents of the planet were humans. Due to the fact that the Damuu System is located so far from the known universe, they were not discovered for some time. At approximately 25,000 BBY, when the rest of the known galaxy rediscovered the hyperdrive, the Paliurans were discovering primitive automobile technology. Their nations flourished. There was one thing about Paliura that made it much different from other planets: the paliurus. The paliurus is a flower with Force-related properties; mainly, it created a one-meter radius sphere about it that neutralized any Force energy, and this effects compounds per flower, just like the ysalamiri. For instance, if Emperor Palpatine was to walk into the flower's sphere (or on the planet at all), he would not be seen as a positive or negative Force entity; in fact, he would only be seen as a gray anomaly by other Force users; Vader, nor Luke or any other Jedi could detect Palpatine; only an anomaly (well, the whole planet would seem to be neutral; most Force users would ignore it, due to the fact that every piece of life has some sort of Force energy emitting from it. Positive or negative.....right? Obviously not..). Visually, there is no difference, except for one. The paliurus feeds on the Force energy of whatever is in it; in other words, if a bad person (say, Palpatine) walks into it's sphere, it will begin to feed on this energy and change. If it absorbs enough positive enrgy, it will begin to grow more beautiful; it's stems will grow tough, strong, and excellent medicines. If it absorbs enough negative energy, it's pedals will turn pale; it's stem will grow thorns that, when swallowed, act as a quick poison. It can also be absorbed through the skin if grinded into a fine powder, although a lot of the powder must be absorbed in order for the flower to kill it's recipient. This flower was used in Paliura's courts a lot; their jury had an easy job, sicne the flower revealed their true nature. Paliurians continued to advance in society and technology until the dreadful Circle Of Ahargas't occured around 6500 BBY.

Circle of Ahargas't

As the planetary population grew, they united and formed a planetary union until a band of cities known as the Circle of Ahargas't decided to try and eat the paliurus. When it was discovered that the plant gave "visions" (a.k.a hallucinations), they created the one thing guaranteed to create war: many differentiating religions. The plant-eaters broke off into several groups and established "churches" around the globe. They weren't really churches. They used these "churches" to offer sacrifices and do religious ceremonies which included slaughtering one of a different faith. As the ranks of the religions grew, they broke into war, called the War of Alzodat, or sacrifice. A certain religion by the name of the Bediende van ik BEN believed in loving others more than themselves; they despised this bloodshed. When an opportunity presented itself to end this war, they were sure to take it. Sadly, it ended up ending with a final sacrifice. One particularly bloodthirsty clan decided to attemp to assassinate the leader of the formerly global (and now only) Paliurian government. The leader of the Bediende, Zerelem, learned about the plans minutes before the shot fired. There was only two options; take the bullet or let him die. He took the bullet for him, but not after hacking into the TV network and having it play the same message over and over; "Remember this, people of Paliura; this day I die for the leader of the Paliurian state. Why, you ask? He is our only hope. If we do not stop this war, then this war will stop us. Permanently. Fellow Bediende, let my death not be in vain." After this supreme act of sacrifice, the Paliurian state, as well as many of the citizens and small religions, revolted and abolished the religious "chapels". Thus ends the War of Alzodat, as well as the Circle of Ahargas't.

Massacre of Paliura

Once the War of Alzodat ended, the Paliurians returned to peaceful ventures and rapidly advanced in both technology and society. Around 17 BBY, Paliura developed space technology adequate enough to travel anywhere in the solar system in a short period of time. Approximately 15 BBY Kalia developed the same technology. The two planets made contact for the first time. Kalia is home to two nations (the Mossi and the Wbili'i, one communistic and the other republican). As the planets grew and traded, the Mossi, whom were the most technoligically advanced nation in that system, realized the power that the paliurus had. They took a few specimens to their labs to study it; they didn't find whatever it was that enabled it to have those properties, but they did find something. One of the technitians accidently cut himself on the thorns on the flowers' dark version; he felt like his soul was being sucked out for every second the thorn was in him. More research revealed that the flower, when in it's evil form, slowly absorbed the Force from the body when injected into it (the body would eventually die very painfully), while the positive flower form released Force energy and healed many injuries and diseases. They began to develop a weapon to be used against Paliura, especially after the Inter-Planetary Colonization Debate, in which said planet completely prohibited the export and import of exotic plants into and out of Paliura for fear of disease. As the two planets headed toward the outside areas of the solar system to colonize, the Mossi attempted an assassination on the Wbili'i leader. Sadly, the Mossi framed the Paliurians for the assassination attempt; the Wbili'i declared war on Paliura. The Mossi joined in this war with the Wbili'i, eager to take over the planet and use the paliurus to forward their own needs. The next few months resulted in catastrophic damage to the Wbili'i forces, so much that they held a conference, in which they decided if they can't take Paliura, no one can. They, too, started to develop a weapon. A weapon that could destroy a planet. No, it's not the Death Star or any laser weapon. It's quite simple; if all the flowers spontaneously react and explode, the planet would be completely annihilated. How is this done? Quite accidently, they found out that if both the positive and negative forms of the flower were ground together and mixed together and brought into the sphere of a regular, neutral paliurus, they would explode in waves of Force energy due to the positive, negative and neutral energy combining. Unknowingly, the Mossi would help in this. As the Paliura began to start conquering Kalia, the Mossi brought their big opening, and sadly finishing, move. They send 6 cargo transports over the 6 major cities, filled with these thorns, and they blew up the transports to rain death in the form of this superweapon that the Wbili'i snuck into their transports. In less then 10 minutes, over 8 billion people died as well as 60% of the planet's surface was eradicated.

The Empire and the Chiss

No doubt such a huge expulsion of Force energy, as well as death, could be sensed by strong, potent Force users. Ironically, this massacre occured at the moment Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader were duelling aboard the first Death Star. Almost immediately thereafter the Millenium Falcon departed, Darth Vader, along with a large Imperial fleet (Death Star excluded...it was en-route to Yavin IV). When the fleet arrived at the disturbance, they found the Chiss waiting for them, or more acuratelly, they found the Chiss sending assault shuttles down to the surface. Obviously, the Empire didn't like them intruding on their find. The Imperials commenced firing immediately. After a short firefight, the Chiss knew they were outnumbered, so began a retreat. Being as crafty as the Chiss are, they diverted several attack shuttles from the surface to the nearest Imperial Star Destroyer, the Night Hawk. Caught unawares by an elite force of Chiss commando's, the Night hawk's bridge fell easily, but not before it's zealous captain slaved the hyperdrive to hyperspace into Paliura (he mistakened it for the Chiss homeworld). 25 minutes later, the planet Paliura existed no more. Darth Vader and his fleet presently retreated back in order to assist with the Battle of yavin (obviously, this occured at O BBY, close to 0 ABY). Thus ends Paliura's tale.
