The Peril is a Victory II-class Star Destroyer that has seen chronologically extensive yet appearance-light service in the Rebel Squadrons.

The Peril has seen RS service primarily as the flagship of Redemption Fleet. It served as the flagship of Redemption from 1998 to 2005. During this time it appeared on the Redemption Fleet webpage and it also appeared in at least one ITOD mission, Retribution Fleet's R2F800. In this appearance, the vessel was under the command of Fleet Admiral Dave Trebonious-Astoris. It arrived at the rendezvous point for Redemption Fleet and Retribution Wing forces far in the Outer Rim before heading out into the Unknown Regions to investigate reports of missing warships. It came under attack by Imperial forces led by the Modified Frigate Pronota. It supported the Star Destroyer Prometheus in holding Imperial forces at bay until Sentinel task force, led by the Star Destroyer Liberator, arrived to help repulse the Imperials.

In 2005, the Redemption Fleet command staff decided that a VSD-II was too small for a flagship, and retired the Peril in favor of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, the Redemption. This was widely held as an act of breathtaking unoriginality.

Fictional Background

The first appearance of the Peril is in the biography of Dave Trebonious-Astoris. The ship was until 2 ABY in the service of the Empire, attached to the fleet of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

At that time, Dave had been captain of the Peril for six years. When he defected to the Alliance, he brought the ship with him. For years it was bounced around in various fleets of the fledgling New Republic. When Dave took command of Redemption Fleet (historically, 1998), he requisitioned, received, and retrofitted the Peril for service as his flagship. It served in numerous battles under Dave and his successors before being retired during the command of Leonard Cable (historically, 2005). At this time the Peril was transferred again, so that its original owner, Dave, could claim command of it. He at present commands the ship as part of a special New Republic Task Force responsible for exploration on the borders of Known Space, outside of the Cadrel Expanse. See his fictional history for further information.
