Family and education

Pro was born in Naboo in a small community at the shores of the southern sea. The small settlement provided home to the Clan Ca'Mbarus and employment to most of it's members as public servants at the local authorities. His family communicated in Ryl at home but he was exposed to Basic from an early age. Thanks to this his Basic is close to native Nabooian dialect with a small Ryl accent, noticeable about the harder consonants and slightly more open vowels. His parents envisioned a career in the field of sciences for their son and provided the best education available in the region. Inspired by the natural beauty of Naboo he became a qualified tour guide at the age of 12 and a survival instructor 2nd grade and a certified scouting and tracking specialist a year later. At the age of 15 he received a grant to continue his education at the Universitas of Deeja Peak. His early works about the parallel evolution of mee in Aquilaris and Naboo gained him a recognition and several grants providing opportunities to travel to Rori frequently to research populations of amphibians and reptiles considered to be originally indigenous to Naboo and to visit scientific events even as far as the Core Worlds. Seeing examples of industrialization and over-urbanization he decided to specialize on conservation biology, though he retained a wide field of interest in his major, planetary ecology. Due to family traditions and his parents' request he had a minor in public administration and diplomacy, an area he was considered to have natural talents by his professors. Social sciences remained to be important in his later works.

During his university studies and exposed to a more colorful cultural environment he developed the habit of going out to parties and other social events. He attended weekly to the parties at Club Supernova in Rauha and not surprisingly he went to all open air parties too he was aware of. He could meet more Twi'leki not members of the Ca'Mbarus clan as well. Some of his new friends, like An'nya Essar or the young Tyrian, Latuya from the Club Supernova affected his interests particularly. This awakened a growing interest about whether his affection to arts, especially music and dance was linked to his heirloom and Pro became more and more curious about the history of his clan and the Twi'leki race.

Pro applied for another grant to study the limiting essential amino acid composition of the rycrit meat, a subject more linked to physiology than planetary ecology Pro received the grant claiming that it is essential to understand the top levels of foodchains of niche ecosystems like in the Ryloth caves to understand more complex planetary ecosystems. (Physiology was not an entirely new area of interest. Beyond the scientific background provided by the Universitas he studied insect and crustacean exoskeletons to help designing a protective exoskeleton for field research to be used in areas with high or unknown risk of animal attacks. His cooperation with an armorsmith to create the protective wear was so successful he kept and updated the chitinous exoskeleton later, even when he had access to virtually any armor equipment.) In terms of motives he rather wanted to study something exclusively linked to Ryloth to have the opportunity to study the contemporary Twi'leki society empirically. While preparing for the "research" Pro learned from their Nercathi origins first from his parents who tried to convince him not to visit Ryloth. Though only a formality by this time he also graduated from the Universitas at the age of 20 but kept working closely with the researchers in the Department of Planetary Ecology.

Youth and armed forces trainings

Traveling to Ryloth Pro stopped at Tattooine, a planet with more similarities in infrastructure and legal system to the Nabooian he got used to than his destination planet to make some prior arrangements with local researcher and get some of the bulkier equipment. He considered it a good opportunity to prepare to the harsh environment of Ryloth he was genetically fit but never exposed to anything similar being grown up in temperate climate and focusing studies on similar or the even more balanced oceanic climates. Arriving at Bestine, the administrative center of the planet he was shocked to experience two phenomena imposing greater burden than the climate. One of them was the extent of slavery and associated crime, the other is the treatment of the non-human population by the authorities, none of them being apparent on peaceful rural communities on Naboo or in a cultural center Dee'ja Pak was. Such a sudden change in both public perception -from a talented researcher or a member of the family of officials to a second grade citizen- and in feeling of security, especially seeing great numbers of twi'leks most likely being kidnapped and forced to slavery not only Pro's empathy but his agenda changed significantly.

Although Pro valued each individuals and races for their respective talents and strengths he felt to be offended that his fellow twi'leks are treated inferior by Human authorities representing a race being inferior to twi'leks in most areas, arts, diplomacy, many fields of science and physical fitness and endurance among them. This feeling was strengthened by the his new interest and admiration of his race. He also felt that if he is treated as a secondary citizen he has no reason to feel like a citizen of the Galactic Empire. Motivated by this he decided to leave Tattooine before planned to Ryloth, dominated by the culture he valued more and more but also moved out to Mos Eisley where the presence of authorities he found more and more irritating was less accentuated. He was aware of the risks of being in such a city but confident in his abilities Pro considered it as part of his journey and preparation to the tasks ahead of him.

As he expected his brief visits to Mos Eisley cantinas led him to a different world than Naboo parties. The presence of numerous lowlifes he felt nothing in common made him feel slightly uncomfortable, though it was a good exercise to ignore them. He was impressed by how the grace and charm of twi'leki dancers could attract the virtually (not temporarily, but probably for a lifetime) unconscious scum even, the irony of slaving those whose talents are recognized most apparently by the slavers themselves, displaying a level of subconsciousness and selfishness he knew well from his studies of etology.

When he finished preparations he left to Ryloth. He started the formal part of the research that, in fact, did not need extended field work. As a cautious person he did not contact the Nercathi right away and stayed in Kala'uun.

Clan history

Clan Ca'Mbarus (sometimes referred as Clan Mbarus) is not an original Rylothean clan. It was formed three generations ago in exile to maintain the structure of society and identity of Twi'leki leaving Ryloth as loyal followers and members surviving the death of the third member of the head clan of Nercathi (rather than dying on the Brightlands). The cause of death was disputed and widely suspected to be unnatural.

Liquidated a sufficient part of the personal wealth of the members of the head clan and Sesk'bumat the exiles had sufficient resources to settle on another planet to start a new life. Tattooine in the proximity of Ryloth seemed to be an unsafe option due to the close ties to Ryloth and the extensive slavery. Most of the exiles used a transport for podracing fans to Malastar to leave the planet, some small fighters piloted by loyal Nercathi accompanied the convoy. The transport landed on Naboo to pick up Nabooian visitors to the podrace, where the exiles and escorts left the convoy. Naboo with significant offworld trade and therefore knowledge of alien cultures, well established local security and no traditions in random slavery seemed to be a suitable spot to settle.

Although the quasi-clan was established to maintain cultural and sacral traditions the first generation born on Naboo was reluctant to learn much about them being critical about traditions resulting in their exile status and being disenfranchised of rights every twi'lek inherits at their homeworld.

As traditionally being members of Sesk'bumat, the political caste, most of clan members had extensive experience in politics and administration and had no problems adjusting to Naboo's legal and administrative environment. Capitalizing in this heritage and experience most clan members sought employment in local administration. Despite being considered off worlders their work, rationality and calm resolve was valued due to the ease they could handle problems involving various regulations, personalities or cultures, many times avoiding clashes between Human inhabitants and native Gungans. Though local administration was a significant setback in status compared to being in higher circles in one of the clans with the longest tradition and highest fame in Ryloth the clan saw their status to be fit with their most important goals: to be out of focus of both the ruling head clan of the Nercathi and the Human elite that seemed to be ambivalent towards off worlders from time to time.

Only an extensive research by Pro and Aola Ca'Mbarus revealed later that the head clan conflict was amplified (maybe caused) by a longer, yet seemingly subtle conflict of philosophies within the Nercathi clan. Part of the clan used to believe of off-world origin of Twi'leks and the myth of the great travels. Although a myth originated probably (many) thousands of years before the myth of Inun or Swilja fourteen generations ago the discovery of and new evidence about the remnants of a culture in P'Chek with an architecture surprisingly similar to that of the contemporary Ryloth made some of the Nercathi believe that it might be the place of origin of the Twi'leki race, the planet where the mythical great travels started. Coincidentally soon after a fleet of huge multi generation vessels orbited Ryloth with passengers of many races considering themselves as "Galactic Nomads", wanderers and hunters traveling from one uncolonized planet to another for many generations, mostly self sufficient and with minimal links to other communities. That seemed to be in line with the philosophy of the mythical travel that considered the journey "being more important than the destination", the "symbol of ultimate freedom", "the call of the distance that never ends, reaches an apex or allows the nation to decay". Both the similarity between the myth and the nomad philosophy and the content was very appealing to other Nercathi, being considered members of one of the most ancient clans and those with special responsibility to upheld the Twi'leki traditions at times, when "new traditions" like clan-assisted slavery and irrational selfishness poison the Twi'leki society, practices and traits never portrayed to be proper by historic documents, myths or texts of the Mother Goddess. These Nercathi quickly concluded that Ryloth was never meant to be a destination, only a station and by abandoning the spirit of travels the Twi'leki society was destined to decay. They wanted to join the Galactic Nomads hoping to cleanse the twi'leki spirit and to visit the ancient homeworld some time, but only a selected few young Twi'leki was provided with the opportunity to join the multi-generation ships. In the following ten years many Nercathi dedicated all their time and wealth to convert large ships to support the nomadic life and joined up with the Galactic Nomads. They were unheard of in the next ten generations in Ryloth, when some of the successors returned to Ryloth. They maintained Ryl and Lekku communication but their dialect of Basic was so distinct no Twi'leks could understand it any more. Another surprising fact was that a significant percent of those returning had the lavender color of Tyrian twi'leks. Whether it was a population genetics development or the basically Rutian Nercathi community adsorbed Tyrians during their travels remains unknown. With their influential teachings "focusing on the underlying message of the great travels" all returners were accepted to the Nercathi clan again.
