The Skills system is currently being developed. There are currently 3 categories of skills:

  • Academy based skills (game-, mission building-, certain fiction-, officer-, IT-skills)
  • Unit based skills (certain skills might require unit activity in order to be improved)
  • Self-awarded skills (skills not related to RS activities)

Currently all skills are self-awardable. The outline below shows what we are aiming for.

Skill Tree

Academy based skills

Each member will be able to start learning RSA supported skills by taking the appropriate courses. Each skill will be teached either within one course or one course series.
Upon graduation of a certain course, the skills section of the graduated students' profile will update accordingly to show the highest achieved skill level for each skill.

Gaming Skills

NOTE: Game skills will switch from a 'Academy based' approach to a 'unit activity based' approach on higher skill ranks.

Self-awarded skills

A wide range of skills to pick from could be offered here. Those skills would relate more to RL than RS issues.

Skill levels

Each skill will have various levels. Each course in a course series will be teaching one-two skill level/s. A member has to complete a course in order to receive the skill level/s associated with that course.

# of skill level Skill rank Reached by
1 Beginner Graduation of a UG course
2 Promising Beginner Graduation of a UG course with merit
3 Graduation of a 1st PG skill course
4 Graduation of a 1st PG skill course with merit
5 Graduation of a 2nd PG skill course
6 Graduation of a 2nd PG skill course with merit
7 Graduation of a 3rd PG skill course
8 Graduation of a 3rd PG skill course with merit
9 Expert See note below
10 Top Expert See note below
  • Concerning skill level 9+10: Especially for game skills I would suggest to not use a course for this skill level. Instead, there would be set specific requirements tied to RS activity. So eg.
    • a game SP skill level 9/10 could be achieved by completing the top level course for the skill, and by eg. reporting on 3 continous ITOD missions for that game with a narrative for each
    • a game MP skill level 9/10 could be achieved by completing the top level course for the skill, and by eg. playing a certain amount of offical MP matches in a specified period
  • Skill rank describtions are open for changes.
  • Postgraduate courses for skills which don't have Undergrad courses, will start with skill level 3.
  • Courses that will have only one way of graduation (either Fail or Pass, instead of Fail, Pass or Merit) will award the student the higher skill level (from the 2 skill levels associated with the level of the course) upon graduation.
  • When a certain skill will need less than 10 skill ranks, the top skill rank will be rank level 10.

RSA Awards

The achived skills and the indication of the achived levels will show up on each RS members' main profile. Please see the RSA Awards article for more info.
