Talk:Initial genre

As current Academy CO I just would like to state that I am not going to make use of this proposal neither do I plan to. It is basically a good idea, but I think that the centralized Academy with Primary Instructors and the mandatory requirement for new members to be at least LJG before graduating an UG course will be enough to address the issues the Intial genre proposal is addressing.
If this proposal should get reviewed in the future for possible use, I suggest to expand it into a "Profession Paths" system. The idea is to have various professions (eg. combateer, pilot, commando, tactican, jedi, simmer, etc.) which would have a certain number of ranks. To get to the top rank (eg. Master Pilot) a member would have to complete specified courses and/or have to complete certain requirements. Once such a system would be in place, new members would pick their primary profession and start doing the appropriate path. Members would be of course able to change their primary profession or do other non-primary paths. Such a system would make huge use of the skills system (which would have to be fully implemented), but note that having one skill at top level wouldn't mean that the linked profession has been "mastered".
