The second planet of the Genji system, Tenchi is also one of the least attractive. Still in its formative stages, the planet is a mass of tempestuous activity. Hundreds of active volcanoes dot the landmasses, and the few water bodies on the planet remain at toasty temperatures just below evaporation year-round. Not even bacterium can live in these conditions.
Tenchi's moon, Shonagon, is the one planetoid with somewhat livable conditions. Several species of plant life and hardy reptilians live on the surface of the moon, which may explain why the Old Republic chose to place their listening facility here. The facility itself is using centuries old equipment, and is of no strategic value.
