There has been three Gold Squadrons in the Rebel Squadrons. Gold Squadron (original) refers to the first Gold Squadron of current Rebel Squadrons, starting July 1995. The original Rebel Squadrons also had a Gold Squadron. There is no direct connection between that squadron, and the Gold Squadron (original). There is also no direct connection between Gold Squadron (original) and the current Gold Squadron, other than the fact that they are part of the same heritage of the current Rebel Squadrons fleets.

The first commander of Gold Squadron (original) was VA Super.
