The Lambda-class T-4a shuttle Animus is a support craft of the Strike Cruiser Hammer of Justice. It was given its current designation while the Hammer and compliment were masquerading as pirates in the Osiris Sector; previously the craft was known only by a serial number. In order to facilitate the Hammer's identity as a pirate cruiser the shuttle's New Republic emblems were removed and replaced by various savage beast motifs, painted by the Hammer's deck crew, who also chose the new name, although exactly which member of the crew first suggested Animus remains a matter of debate.
