Overview

  • Battle of Saleucami continues.
  • As the Clone Wars end, no more Corellian “Jedi Credits” are produced.

16:4

  • Siege of Saleucami concludes.

16:5

  • On Coruscant, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Saesee Tiin, Yoda, Plo Koon, and Mace Windu meet with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Palpatine asks them to congratulate Anakin on his recent victory at Belderone when they speak to him next. Among those in attendance at the meeting are Sate Pestage and Armand Isard, who seem optimistic about the Separatists not gaining ground. As Yoda points out, though, even though they have taken Muunilinst, Castell, Geonosis, Metalorn, and Cato Neimoidia (all homeworlds of various Separatist factions), the Republic is not gaining ground either. The war is in a period of stalemate. The Jedi Council has suggested that they go after the Separatist leaders, not worry about individual systems at the moment . . . well, except one: Tythe, where they believe Count Dooku himself is located. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine believes that only Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi can stop him. They’ll be sent, along with a force of clonetroopers, but others worry, perhaps rightly so, that any large-scale assault at this point will divert resources and defences from Coruscant itself. Palpatine, for his part, seems unworried.
  • On an unknown world, Ki-Adi-Mundi leads a force of Jedi and clones, including the young Jedi Rivi-Anu, against Separatist droids. When the Separatists manage to damage a Venator-class Star Destroyer and send it crashing toward the battlefield, Rivi-Anu uses all of her Force power to hold it up in the air long enough for the others to escape before it crashes down, killing her. The other Jedi are awed by her sacrifice. In the wake of the battle, Ki-Ad-Mundi’s forces are summoned to Mygeeto.
  • Clone forces under Ki-Adi-Mundi (including members of the 501st Legion) arrive on Mygeeto. Their mission is supposedly to destroy a Separatist Energy Collector. The mission is a success, but the fighting on Mygeeto continues.
  • Upon taking control of Utapau, the Separatists force the factories to begin producing TechnoUnion MankVim-814 Interceptors.
  • Battle of Coruscant.
  • Coruscant is assaulted by Seperatist forces led by General Grievous, who capture Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
  • Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker rescue Supreme Chancellor Palpatine from the Seperatist flagship Invisible Hand, which Skywalker then crash-lands onto Coruscant.
  • The Seperatist Council relocate from Utapau to Mustafar for increased security.
  • The Senate passes a new law turning direct control of the war to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, making him the Supreme Commander of the Army of the Republic. This also gives the Chancellor jurisdiction over the Jedi Order.
  • Another law passed makes regional governors (Moffs) the controlling power in their systems, rather than their senators. A group of Senators, including Fang Zhar, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma are beginning to gather fellow Senators into a group to oppose Palpatine’s growing power and move for the removal of such power from his hands.
  • A group of two thousand senators, known as the Delegation of Two Thoursand, petition Palpatine for the removal of much of his power soon, as they are wary of his rule becoming a dictatorship.
  • Battle of Kashyyyk
  • Battle of Utapau
  • A group of Jedi under the leadership of Jedi Master Mace Windu confront Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, intending to arrest him for being a Sith Lord. Palpatine cries persecution for the audio recording devices hidden in the room. Darth Vader intervenes, saving the Supreme Chancellor from the mutinous Jedi.
  • The Jedi Purges begin, with Jedi fighting on battlefields throughout the galaxy gunned down by their own clonetroopers. Clonetroopers led by the Sith Lord Darth Vader storm the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, killing all Jedi housed within.
  • On Coruscant the Senate declares martial law, with the burning Jedi Temple cited as the heart of a Jedi rebellion against the Republic.
  • Dark Vader kills the Separatist Council on Mustafar and powers down the droid armies.
  • The Clone Wars end.
  • Republic Clonetroopers on Kashyyyk turn on the allied Wookiee soldiers.
  • The Senate is called into an emergency session, and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine speaks out to the Senate. He claims that the Jedi deformed him and left him with his new visage during an attempted assassination. He now calls upon the Republic to destroy the destroyers, having spent the entire afternoon giving evidence as to the Jedi’s treachery. To ensure peace, he claims that they have already become an empire in all but name. Now he declares that transformation in name as well as the Galactic Empire, under the leadership of Emperor Palpatine, ruler for life alongside the power of the Galactic Senate. It is a New Order based on safety, security, justice, and peace. Today is the first, the original, Empire Day.
  • A beacon is set in the ruins of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, warning all surviving Jedi in the galaxy to flee and hide.
  • Luke Skywalker is born and adopted by his uncle and aunt, Owen Lars and Beru Whitesun Lars, on Tatooine.
  • Leia Organa is born and adopted by Senator Bail Organa and Breha Antilles Organa on Alderaan.
  • Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo dies, and her funeral is held on Naboo.

16:5:24

  • Republic HoloNet News releases a Special Inaugural Edition to commemorate the formation of the new Galactic Empire. This is the last update to Republic HoloNet News, which will be replaced by Imperial Holovison.
  • Republic HoloNet News reports that COMPOR (the Commission for the Preservation of the Republic) has been replaced by a new organization, COMPNOR (the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order).
  • Republic HoloNet News reports that sixty-three senators have been arrested on charges of conspiracy and treason in the wake of the Jedi rebellion. At this time, the latest names added to the list of traitors are Ivor Drake of Kestos Minor, Streamdrinker of Tynna, Shea Sadashassa of Herdessa, Tanner Cadaman of Fennix, Grebleips of Brodo Asagi, and Fang Zhar of Sern Prime.
  • Republic HoloNet News reports that the Trade Federation, under Acting Viceroy Sentepeth Findos, has now been nationalized as part of the Empire. The organization will be dissolved and merged with other companies, as will many other Confederacy allies.
  • Republic HoloNet News reports on the new regional governors, Moffs, who will now be a direct link between various sectors and the Emperor himself. Among the first Moffs announced to the public are Wilhufff Tarkin, Denn Wessex, and Marcellin Wessel.
  • Republic HoloNet News urges citizens to register their names, political persuasion, and weapons with Imperial authorities for the greater good.
  • Republic HoloNet News urges citizens to help the new Empire by being clone donors, joining the military, joining COMPNOR, becoming “eyes” for the Empire, and, if an alien, registering for what will eventually amount to slave labour.
  • Republic HoloNet News puts out a list of Jedi fugitives still at large. Included on the short version of the list are Kai Justiss, Halagad Ventor, Qu Rahn, Ydra Kiwallen, Maw the Boltrunian, and Ranik Solusar.
  • In the wake of the Jedi Rebellion, the official story put out for public knowledge is that the Jedi had tried to assassinate Palpatine to take over the Republic. Supposedly, their motive was that Palpatine wouldn’t immediately step down when the Jedi declared that the war was over with Grievous’ death, rather than waiting to see if the fighting was actually going to end. They are also said to have engineered the Clone Wars, since the Separatist leader, Count Dooku, was a former Jedi, and it was a Jedi, Sifo-Dyas, who ordered the creation of the Republic’s clone army. Supposedly, the troopers were short-lived thanks to their accelerated growth, but this was fine for the Jedi because they wouldn’t need the troopers once they had overthrown the Republic instituted a Force-worshipping theocracy in its place. The plot of the Jedi was foiled by Palpatine and his right-hand man, Darth Vader, whom no one has heard of before.
  • Palpatine orders the creation of new lines of capital ships and starfighters in the war’s aftermath, under the auspices of preserving the peace. He, meanwhile, uses his disfigurement to distance himself further from the Senate and the public. As for Darth Vader, he is given a jet black Jedi Interceptor as his personal starfighter, along with a black astromech, while Sienar Systems works on a new TIE Advanced starfighter based on his personal specifications. As for the Separatist leaders, there is still no confirmation that they are dead, but the fact that they were all aliens helps Palpatine’s new Empire to crack down on aliens, giving preferential treatment to the “loyal” human race. There is also talk of building an Imperial Palace for the Emperor, his advisors, and the Royal Guard, along with various statues to the man who “saved” the Republic and founded the Empire. As for any Jedi who have survived, Palpatine does not have them all hunted down just yet, allowing some to go into hiding, which he sees not as them escaping him, but as humbling themselves before the Sith’s power after a millennium of arrogance.
  • The Senate rotunda is closed for repairs in the wake of a foiled assassination attempt by the Jedi against the Emperor.
  • Sate Pestage informs the Squibs that they cannot look for salvage among the wrecks from the Battle of Coruscant.
  • The mining facility on Mustafar is reported as damage caused by an industrial accident. As a result of the destruction of several parts of the facility there, prices for dolovite rise to seven hundred and sixty credits per barrel.
