Overview

As part of the structure changes, the squadrons in the combined flying unit will all participate in the same storyline. This may mean that they are all on the same battlefield in a mission, or are carrying out different orders in different areas, all related to a central storyline.

Storyline

Adam "Stump" Fene, formerly known as Vender, has excellent plans for the storyline, and he will be designing it. If he makes his way here, he can elaborate further on the subject.

Games

Missions will be designed for each game. The pilot in each game will have a different perspective, and it's possible that multiple perspectives can be released for any game for each ITOD mission. Pilots may fly any or all of the missions; the minimum expectation for flying is one mission for one game.

Competition

Merits

Squadrons will compete using merits. This will be earned in clear ways, like our current system; however, a squadron's final standing will be determined by the number of merits its pilots have gotten, as well as a few other bonuses. The official scoreboard will be essentially a merits listing; click on the number, and the site will list each way the pilot earned the merits (if Snap and Licah can implement this in time).

Merits are awarded in the following way:

Flying

  • 10 - One completed report on the mission (any game)
  • 5 - Second completed report on the mission (second game)
  • 2 - Each subsequent completed report on the mission (each other game)
  • 5 - One failed report on the mission (any game, as with completed reports)
  • 2 - Second failed report
  • 1 - Each subsequent failed report
  • 5 - First place in game
  • 4 - Second place in game, and so on to 5th
  • 1 - Per each simulator database mission flown during the ITOD mission; limit 3

Writing

  • Points judged by Command Staff
  • 1-6 - Personal narrative for mission
  • 0-3 - Posts in any run-ons (max 12 pts)

Other competitions

  • Varies with each mission

Squadron Bonuses

  • 4 times # participating members - 100% participation
  • 3 times # participating members - 80%-99% participation
  • 2 times # participating members - 60%-79% participation
  • 1 times # participating members - 40%-59% participation

Killboards

Killboards will still be used like they are for the current setup, but these are for the purposes of earning merits. The top scorer for each game will earn his or her squadron a bonus, for example.

Medals

New medals may be needed. The current fleet medals are not very condensed, so a tighter version is needed. We need to keep a "Top Gun" medal for each game and it could be as simple as "Top Ace - XvT" (or XWA, TIE, X-Wing).

Benefits

  • Every squadron will be directly working with the other squadrons. As it is, it's somewhat hard to keep up with four separate storylines, if one is in four separate fleets.
  • This will allow for all the squadrons to write narratives for each other.

Transition

The existing flying units will need to end their current storylines in order to start a new one. This is a prime time to do so, as each unit is near the end of a tour, as follows:

  • PBF: Mission 12 of 12
  • R2W: Mission 8 of ?
  • RgF: Mission 11 of 12
  • IBG: Mission 1 of ?
