Introduction

From time to time, the RS awards honor to particular members for certain types of service, achievements, successes, etc. The honor is often in the form of medals. *ADD CONTENT HERE*

Beginnings

The first medals where developed in the collaborative effort of Greedo 96 and Super in 1997. These first medals formed the foundation of a new club wide system for rewarding the work of the RS membership. Some of the medals had no practical use at the time but where created for future use, such as the Violet Cluster. The evolution of the medal system continues to current times. Although all of the original medals are still in use, the whole medal system has vastly expanded and evolved well beyond the original set up, as each successive generation improves upon the previous.

New Proposal

Note: Cross-reference this with Rekio's 2004 proposal.

General comment: The medals should be listed in order of importance, less to most on the website.

New Comment: I tried to incorporate the proposal 2 scheme, but ran into the issue that proposal two didn't have a scheme per se. I do realize it is a rough draft.

New new Comment: I will create a new proposal and work on proposal 1 and proposal 3 at the same time. Proposal 3 will be the same medals, but stackable instead of gradient.

New new new Comment: I've filled in the gaps on Proposal 1 to have a comprehensive and flexible system of medals. I've reorder the categories more inline with the general importance/difficulty of the category. I've also move the Combat Medals rules to the end of the proposal. ALSO, brackets [] indicate non-final placeholder names or reference information applicable to the previous comment or title.

New new nwe new Comment: The scheme here has pretty much written itself. A natural bias to participation has come out of the process of writting this proposal. This is actually ideal. It means that the RS-Wides can reward participation, but the fleet level medals can specifically reward top skilled performers, such as the a medal that is for an ITOD's overall top scorer, or the person with the most kills within a MP event. This allows the RS-wide medals from getting too much into the details of individual games, while rewarding the level of participation within the individual games. I've also spent some time on spell checking and narrowing naming conventions a little bit.

Rules for Combat Medals
[See Combat Medals above] 1. These medals are not applicable for ongoing events such as ITOD's, ladders or weekly reoccurring competitions.

2. The Citations are awarded to the recepient based on their number of standard gaming hours within the competition. Each group that supports a multiplayer game within an interclub/clan competition shall establish how many minutes each match is worth. In order to determine the standard gaming hours, take standard match length and multiply that by the number of matches played by the individual.

Examples of Standard Match Lengths:

Battlefront Match 30 minutes
Battlefront II Conquest Match 30 minutes
Battlefront II CTF Match 20 minutes
X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter Match 10 min
X-Wing Alliance Match 10 min

Example of application: If a person plays 20 matches in a week long Battlefront II Conquest competition event, they are assumed to have played five hours and are eligable for the appropriate award medal below.

New Proposal #2

These are just some rough examples I had made for the RgF; a full example of the revamped RS Medals will be longer. The names and ect, are generic temps based off of real military awards - but some are actually good. Full bodied descriptions and examples will come a bit later, as these are more or less just notes right now. You can reference The 2004 Proposal to get a better idea of what it will look like, but that's just a rough example too.
