Lieutenant Junior Grade is the first rank at squadron level. It is the lowest rank within the Rebel Squadrons. All new members either start with this rank or at Second Lieutenant if they fulfill special requirements. The promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade is achieved by a Cadet graduating from their fleet's academy or by earning the Beginner's Path Ribbon.[[1]]
