FireClaw Squadron is one of the nine active squadrons of the Rebel Squadrons. Currently led by MAJ Etain Valen Gaas, FireClaw's members primarily fly and write fiction. FireClaw was founded in 1996, as part of the Patriot Battle Fleet, and has served continuously to this day. Its long history includes many mission victories and many prominent members of the club.

Operations

FireClaw is stationed on the CRS Windstorm near the Galistra system<ref>(44:7:28) Unification, Logistics Office, 2008.08.30</ref>. They have just returned from blowing stuff up and are preparing to blow stuff up again, probably in the same or a nearby system.

Service history

FireClaw has been a leading light since 32GrS, when it was commissioned. It did not participate in the Battle of Blerthmore (which is the only battle name this writer can think of off the top of his head).

Behind the scenes

FireClaw Squadron was founded in 1996, making it one of the four oldest squadrons in the RS, along with the other current PBF squadrons. It was originally assigned to Liberation Fleet, and later re-assigned to Justice Fleet. It led a relatively quiet existence until 1999, when Mike "MacMan" McEwen took over the squadron during PBF Tour 2 and led it to its first two ITOD victories. The squadron reached its highest activity and performance in PBF Tour 4, winning 7 of 8 consecutive missions; since then its activity has fluctuated, rising to high levels once more in RS Tour 2.

FireClaw has produced two RSFCs, Licah Fox and Jack Stewart, both of whom joined FireClaw as their first RS unit and spent time as Squadron CO before embarking on their extensive RS careers. Two other RSFCs, Mike "MacMan" McEwen (FireClaw CO in PBF Tour 2) and Dave Trebonious-Astoris (currently FireClaw Nine), have flown with the squadron, as well as other prominent RS members including Kirghy Lommax (current RSXO), Snappleguy, Sentry, Petr Tagge Margul, Trace, Strider, Xtremegene, and Alta Darklighter Bel Iblis.
